Hi everybody

Sorry for creating a new topic for this single question but i didnt found anything about it here & on the internet. I heard from a friend that it is possible to explore dobuita after midnight at one special day. He triggered that randomly. Is that true? Is it possible in Shenmue 2 too? Thanks!

I know its possible day 1 or something in Shenmue I. If I recall it is when you are looking for sailors and can't find heartbeats maybe.. Or possibly something else triggers it but you actually see the drunk people and even tom going home for the night. pretty cool.

Also it happens automatically at the end of the game when Ryo has to find a way to get to the harbor for a special event that I don't want to spoil if you havent played that far.

It also happens when you have to look for a way to get to the harbor in time (the motorcycle part). I think you can look round for about an hour or 2 before you have to go look for one.

I thought when you had to rescue Nazomi was the only time?

I don't remember what is possible in the first game, but there is at least one point in Shenmue II in which you can get past the curfew. I recall waiting with bating breath, not sure if the game was designed to incorporate a sunrise. Since it wasn't meant to be seen, I wondered if it would go from night sky to morning/daytime sky instantaneously. After watching the sun rise as dramatically as it sets I realized I was playing Shenmue - of course the sun would rise! And I never doubted Shenmue's uncanny attention to detail again.

Yes, Shenmue 1 has a sunrise. It is one of the best things to see as it shows the level of detail they put in the game.

You can view the sunrise using a modded save thats provided on the DreamEXplorer disc.

That is exactly what was in my mind. I wondered whether the sun rises. Your describtion of that moment sounds amazing and Im worried that I asked instead of try by my own.

Next time I'm home, Ill try to get a video of it. I may be able to do it on NullDC but actual hardware is always best.

You can also break the curfew in Shenmue 1.

Ripped from Clint:

Theres 2 times, and 2 times only you can break curfew.

One is when looking for sailors (the heartbeats bar). They know it would piss a lot of gamers off if they sent you home at 11 and made you wait till 7 the next day. Anyhow you can break 3-4am on this day.

Other than that it can be done obviously when searching for a way to go rescue Nozomi at the harbour.

Also if this counts, you can stay up till about 3-4am whilst looking for the phoenix mirror in the Hazuki Basement. Fuku-sam will come to the rescue if you push your luck though;)

I know once in Shenmue II I walked through and saw Workers Pier, part of Queens Street and Fortunes Pier at like 1-3 in the morning and it was dead, no one was out but Ryo.
