Its almost Christmas/Hanukkah = Time For Replay

Hi Guys,

Since school lets out next week and its almost the holiday time, I feel it is time to revisit Shenmue 1 and re-live the experience.

I have made it a tradition to play Shenmue 1 on Christmas every year for the past 7 years. This year will be no different.

To see Yamanose, Sakuragaoka, Dobuita, the Harbour, all of the characters and interactions, and to remember the dojo as the community that drove everyone to love Shenmue even more without any interruptions or other variances in the day is really a once a year experience. To relive the saga and feel like I'm there is an amazing time.

Would anyone be interested in a recording of my playthrough as a Youtube video to watch when your game isn't available?

It could be considered an official ShenmueDojo video playthrough of the series.

Does anyone else have some time allocated to Shenmue? Or what other games do you possibly want to play during the holiday season?

Second on my list is Halo 4.

I hope you all have a great holiday and keep your Shenmue spirits alive and well!

+1 with you.

But my 2nd is actually Skies of Arcadia or even San Andreas (this one only with mods and for casual playing).
I'm re-playing SoA with even more feelings than the 1st time.

That's funny. I was this | | close to recording a multi camera "Let's Play" style video last week. If only I had the time.

You should do it for those of us that cannot. I'd watch it. :)

I tried a topic like this but it failed. Based on a few years ago we all played Shenmue on the same dates as the game and share our notes. It was a blast. So this year I did that lonesome. I played Shenmue starting in November and finished a while ago.

I think I recall trying to set something like that up. I had a daily journal template that I literally would fill out every day - I think I played one Shenmue day per day, or attempted to at least.

I did play through Shenmue I up through the start of Disc 3. But, I noticed I had a save file from the last chance you could save before leaving Yokosuka. So I skipped all the Disc 3 bull shit and played the ending. I had to miss out on the bike ride and the 70 man fight, unfortunately.

Then I started Shenmue II and saved/quit after the barrage of annoying cut scenes in the first 10 minutes. I'm not a huge fan of the first hour or two of Shenmue II.

Well shit my grits. No wonder I could never find that topic again. Wonder why I didn't post more in it. Wish we could do it again on the exact days as a group

Seeing as how a lot of people on the Dojo have grown up, and SHOULD be able to afford a short flight, we should really try to schedule some sort of American Shenmue Con (small at first). I'm sure we could draw some people.

Get a 1000 Shenmue fans turnon the game and everyone at the same time when Ryo is asking for a black car or sailors. We press the A button to hear a thousand Ryo's asking for a thousand sailors

Topic is a blast of nostalgia, btw. I read through the first 8 pages or so. Lots of interesting conversations and things to notice in Shenmue I that I'd forgotten about.
