This is simply one of the best scenes in gaming for me [the whole of disc 3 was just awesome] with Lan Di appearing and then the little stare down after the fight.

Of course the intro

Double Blow. Just always thought this was a really nice scene

My top 3 scenes in Shenmue, ooh that's hard.

My third favorite scene is the Nozomi rescue scene because it adds a lot to the relationship between Nozomi and Ryo.

My second favorite scene is the forest run through and Shenhua's house because it begins the tale of one of the biggest cliffhangers ever.

My most favorite Shenmue scene, if I really had to choose, is:
Shenhua's flashback to when she was a baby with her parents.

I know, I know, its odd but there's a fundamental reason for it.

That scene is important to me because I spent soooooo much time hacking Shenmue save files, to recreate LanDCs hacked saves for the xbox, to load that area as a playable area.

Seeing that scene in the game reminds me of my own dedication to the series and the completion of the storyline. It really sends a chill down my spine as well as makes me feel enlightened about the game as well.

My least favorite part?
Fighting Chai in the Arcade, son of a bitch he is hard, unless you max your moves out.

You don't need to max anything simply focus on ground leg kicks like the leg sweep and he wont stand a chance ;-)

One does not simply pick just 3 top 3 scenes.

Yeah, I'd probably agree with WRC all the way there. Especially the Double Blow scene. I always make sure it takes place late afternoon so the sky's orange & yellow. Just feels like it was meant to be seen then.

I always seem to miss the Double Blow scene on re-plays. Great move, too.

In Shenmue I, I think everything from the time Ryo has to go save Nozomi and after is damn near perfect - Ono-san, Naoyuki, even the cheesy J-Pop bit. And of course, the morning after the 70 man fight ("Naw. Thats my line" - I think I have a bit of a man crush on Gui Zhang). The scene with Ryo leaving the Dojo and clenching his fist. The way Ryo walk toward the bus stop for one last time and Dobuita almost refuses to let him go - that was genius. The final scene with Master Chen, with Xuiying's theme music - top notch.

But, my favorite 3 scenes, if I had to pick, would be from the end of Shenmue II. The hawk at the crag the first night, Shenhua blowing the flowers the next day, and the Shenmue tree. All superbly done. A very close runner up is of course the rooftop stare down.

Man... Well... just three.

The Intro of Shenmue, The intro of Shenmue II and Lan-Di escaping from Ryo in that epic scene...

See avatar.

But it's very difficult to choose three. It is one of my favorite series after all so there's a lot that I like.
I liked the scene where Xiuying reveals who she is after Ryo had been rude to her all that time. His face went slightly #-o for a second.

I also liked the part in Guilin where he practices moves at night. It's as if he got in touch with the "softer side" of martial arts for the first time.
Now ask me later and I'll name a few different ones.
