Real Life Shenmue Moments

Alright, so its no secret that alot of us are real freaks about Shenmue, I know I am.
But has anyone ever had a Shenmue moment in real life. Say like, when you actually may act like Ryo or say something he does?

I tend to say I see, or is that so? alot, even in Ryo's tone haha. I also have a really bad habit of saying Ahh good whenever I drink something. Its soo bad.

But last week was the best.
I have a friend who's dad owns a local 711 in Trenton NJ, and my friend works there during the night.
I got him to play the Tomato Convience Store song in his 711 just about the whole night.
Video footage coming soon.
Only one person, besides me and him, recognized the song to be from Shenmue and was greatly excited!

"I see" is a supremely useful phrase. When you need to register your understanding of what the other person just said, but don't wish to imply approval with "OK," this little gem will see you through. I use it often at work, and always think of Ryo.

I often say "That's good" ,"Ahh" "Sou ka?", "Sou desu", "Is that so?" and "I see"

"Don't call me ...."

And to mess with people I ask for sailors. There's only been one person that has ever caught on to what I was talking about.

I used that Shenmue soundboard on some bars in Chicago. Some guy actually got up to find a guy named Charlie. I mixed it in with a description of a skinhead with a tatoo on his arm. And then it escalated quickly into me(Ryo) telling him that I wil avenge my father's death. Needless to say, there were quite alot of F-bombs .

"...and now she is my wife" is how that story needs to end.

I have been known to spend a lonely night aboard a small fishing boat with a young Chinese boy.

I also have a yankee-esque hairdo similar to Goro.

I used to carry a little purple notebook around with me everywhere, writing down bits and bobs that I would learn and/or have to remember, but I think I misplaced it and never bothered replacing it in the end, hehe.

Come to think of it, it would probably help my incredibly shitty memory to jot things down on paper... Hmm...

xx
