I was 18 years old when i played Shenmue in 1999. I bought the Dreamcast with my first earned money and to Christmas i get Shenmue. It was so awesome to play it, it was a true videogame.

Really embarrassed to admit this but it's only just dawned on me that I can use the analogue instead of the d-pad in Shenmue 2 fights. I knew that both analogues could be mapped to make Ryo sprint in FREE play but I never, ever associated the analogue with Shenmue and battles.
Trickier inputs feel like an absolute breeze with the analogue. I'm so ashamed u_u

Maybe it's a placebo but I know I can pull off demon's triangle a lot easier with the analogue. I have terrible wrist pains atm, so maybe that's a factor too. u_U

I never noticed until yesterday that the time runs slower in Shenmue II. I always thought an hour or a day would take the exact same amount of time in both games but Shenmue is actually 1.5 times faster. Yet another example how much time is less important in Shenmue II.
For those who are interested, I made a way too elaborate "race" video that puts the games side by side.

I just think whoever chose the Shenmue sample thought it'd make a good beat to rap over. Tbf, Shenmue music is awesome, we were bound to see it used somewhere outside of gaming (although rap wouldn't be my first guess hahaha).

I really miss the more more washed out, urban vibe of the original.
It seems like they changed the color grading after they announced SII, I remember the first trailer they showed, and it looked a lot more darker/grittier. That was an awesome trailer (the one with xuiying dancing at the start).

^ I thought I was the only one thinking like that. It took me a while specially to adjust to the vibrant colours of those orange brick buildings in the Aberdeen area, as I've been so many times in the real HK and tried to search for any architecture that resembles that of the game area to no avail. But again, there's Kowloon and Guilin, and those alone made the game for me.
