Shenmue 1080p

This one is more of an experiment, i wanted to see how the Hazuki residence looks like when i remove all Shenmue vegetation and place some of the Vue 6 standard plants instead.

When I see stuff like this I hope that maybe, one day, someone will be able to run the original game code through some kind of interpreter that gives us this kind of result, playable. I mean, when we first played Shenmue all those years ago, who'd have thought that this kind of image would be possible from extracted game models?

Haha, glad you guys all like my experiment so much. Actually a rather poor render. I only used 2 different plants that i threw into the scene. The point was just to see how it looks as these can be animated, like simulate a wind breeze or so. I didnt even bother to throw in some bushes and grasses.


When i got some more time imma prolly re-rip the whole scene again in a better quality and populate it with some more realistic plants. Gonna keep ya updated when i make some new renders.

to think this is made with just the compressed textures, if sega were to release the hd versions with the uncompressed textures it would look amazing, the shenmue passport models already look current gen in hd

I bet you most of th younger generation who download it won't even know it's a rerelease when they first see it, and especially a rerelease of a game made in the 90's

Funny how that poster says "Today we have several screens which show what Shenmue could like in HD", yet the resolution of the pics he took are only about 620x340 on that site lol Not even 480P.

He did, all though he didnt do a very good job of it, when you click on view the gallery it says on each image "credit to master kyodai via shenmuedojo"

They should at least provide a link to the original source, instead of uploading the pictures themselves and just having a note on them.

TBH, named credit, whether linked or not, should be sufficient. I mean, this time last year everyone would be saying that any exposure of the Shenmue name is good exposure, but now with all these rumours (okay, there's only two, but still...) I'm sure you can give the guy a break. At least Master Kyodai was named and it wasn't just "found on a Shenmue fansite" or owt like that...
