So, I said screw it and ripped my personal copy of the game into cdi format for others to have. You can get it here. If somebody wants to mirror it I will post it here and give that person credit in the original post.

Oh wow, i forgot that i switched to a free webhost because i only used 200MB for my site. My new free host only allows 1 gb of space. But I made a new mirror here http://goo.gl/d6wRr.
I compressed all the discs into one .7z and managed to get it down to 1.5 gb which fits in a free dropbox account. So thats what i did.

Hi, I downloaded Shenmue II Full English 99min SMiTH RePACK.

I got files called SMITH_SHEN2_ENG_99a_!!FIXED.cdi.ecm, how can i use the ecm files for nulldc shenmue 2 emulator like how to implement the voice files?

drop your ecm image into unecm.exe, it will be converted to cdi.

Ok everybody, I've cleaned up the original post and made it look much cleaner so as not to confuse everybody. Let me know if you guys like it or the old way better?

The way it was laid out before it was kind of messy, so I hope everyone is happy and has gotten to enjoy this on your Dreamcast, or if you can't afford to buy the special rare 99 min cdr's then I hope you have emulated the perfect speech version at least.

This really is the way it would have been made had they released it in the USA.

Again, if anybody else could please mirror the 80 minute cdr version for us that would also be great. We don't want to loose this special version again do we?

Oh yours is the first mirror for the 99 min version, I just think the 80 min version should be first as he made that first, and also most folks, myself included only have regular 80 minute cdr's.

Afaik echelon didn't cut out anything besides the speech, i have seen all unused crap on their release.

actually in disks 2-4 they also cut out the multilanguage files and most of the disk swap graphics excpt the one thats used to swap to continue the game

Afaik no release ever got to cut unused stuff, they all either cut the speech completely or downsampled it

true but did you know there is a way to make ahx files smaller without altering their sample rate?

i doubt any of the guys who did these is really aware that much unused stuff is on the discs.

probably but can you really blame them? most people don't have the time to look at each file and determine if it's used or not, not only that how are people supposed to figure out which files are unused?

I have serious doubts many people would get 870 MB CDR, personally i think if you go as far to get some utopical CDRs it would be easier and not much more expensive to just snatch the real game at ebay in a good moment.

probably but then again you never know the Pal version of shenmue II is getting pretty expensive on ebay (usually around the $100-299 margin) and finding a copy in good condition for a decent price is getting harder to do as the day's pass by

I don't think there's good chances the "870 MB disc" release would ever be burned by anyone else, most would prolly simply use it in an emulator.

I agree there's a reason that 870MB CDR's aren't sold in common stores and that reason is most people don't have burners that support them and the technology isn't 100% reliable IIRC

I almost made a torrent for this today after I seen my PM box...

I still have all the images just in case though

btw, dealextreme probably still has the 99 min CD-Rs, they just will take about a month to get and its a 50 pack. They work great in dreamcast, but youll have a lot of spares if you're only after this shen 2 mod.

I also think the only downside to this release is the timing on some speech, you get cut off sometimes, but it beats other releases thats been around.
