mt5 extraction tools

Postby yazgoo » Thu Nov 11, 2010 10:13 am

Hi everyone

I open this thread to keep you posted on mt5 extraction status.
But first, here are some screenshots, which are the scene/01/yd8s/ (GDROM#1) maps extracted via mt52obj last version I combined and rendered in wings 3d:

Obviously, there are still many bugs I have to fix, but under GNU/linux, the extraction is pretty stable.

Here are the project main components:
  • libmt5: a library for reading mt5 files
  • libpvr: a library for reading pvr and pvr containing files
  • pvr2bmp: convert pvr containing files to bmp
  • mt52obj: the main tool (is also a lib)
  • gmt52obj: a graphical interface for mt52obj (win32 api)
The main goal of this new layout is to be able to render directly a mt5 file (without conversion),
that's why there will be a mt5viewer.
One nice thing is that mono won't be needed anymore for the gui, which will be a plain exe.
I'll let you know when I publish a version.

Thanks for the update Yazgoo! Do you still plan on having mt5 to obj functionality correct? Great work so far!

Hey guys, little up. I have a question.

Dotsona said that the extractor is can make 100% rips on models with some distortion.
I tried to run it but I don't know the reason, it give me an error when I click "Run".

My question is if it's posible to extract the Saturn Ryo mt5 (YKA_M.MT5) from "WTF's Shenmue?" without using 3D Ripper DX.
Or should I wait for better/newer version?

I would wait for a better version, characters do not work well with the extractor, they are way to distorted. Not sure about the error you are having.

Does it work with Vista? If it's, the problem should be on "mono" but not sure. I'll wait for the new version that it doesn't need it.

I don't think the tools have been tested on vista or windows 7. Only XP. So that might be the issue here.

I don't know why, but gmt52obj crashs me all time, when i choose any of *.mt5 files, not only from \SCENE\01\BETD\ where should be Hazuki Residence. Does anyone have similar problem or can anyone provide extracted Hazuki Residence?
