Sakuragaoka/Yamanose Models - Imported into 3dsmax

Postby choncy12 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 12:59 pm

I have been trying to do this for awhile, but I have finally imported Dino's Softimage models of Yamanose and Sakuragaoka into 3dsmax. All objects are seperate (no textures of course).

Now comes the fun part...applying textures to these.

yama1_1.jpg

(My apologies for being a newb... not sure how to post mutliple images).

I can post the other images if you are interested.

File Sizes - Yamanose = 107 MB
Sakuragaoka = 392 MB

(Note 1: These models were created by Dino (so please give him credit)
(Note 2: Wude, I am trying to convert this to 3ds to allow an import into SU... I will keep you posted).

If you have any models/scenes you textured I'd definitely be interested in them. Looking great so far, i never managed to export these into anything usable due to the size.

Wude - Here is a link to the sketchup model file for Yamanose. 150 MB (uncompressed!!!)

https://files.me.com/choncy12/09b8rw

150 MB (uncompressed!!!)

I don't know if I will be able to convert Sakuragaoka to sketchup because it is 392MB. Yamanose kept crashing too, but I finally got it to convert.

MK: I will start texturing these this weekend. Let me know if you want them in .3ds format.

Yeah .3ds format would be awesome as I am very sure my 3dmax version is too old and i usually have problems when exporting to .3ds (Crashing, texture names wrong and so on). Thanks a lot in advance!

Good work, just 27 MB and importing fine into Vue. Unfortunately Vue is no good for texturing imported objects so I'm definitely looking forward to a textured version. Do you use original shenmue textures (Like from the dobuita construction kit i posted) or completely random ones from the web? The original ones are soooooo low-res... Once its completely textured i can also edit textures in Vue, but "nude" 3ds models cant be textured in vue unfortunately...

Here is the Sakuragaoka model in .3ds format (97 MB uncompressed)

Still working on applying the textures to the Saka... Someone mentioned before that Dino applied his own "custom" textures to these models. I just have the ones I downloaded from this site (Shenmue Disc 1 textures) and they need some tweaking to fit the model.

These models are pretty large, so I basically do the same thing you did for your Vue scenes. Delete everything that I don't need and use only that which will be in my camera view.

Hi Fenix,

Sorry I don't have any other character models. I only have the ones that have been posted in these forums.

I have attached a screenshot of Sakuragaoka (in max)... for anyone that is interested.

Ryudo brought us some trash as he didn't have flowers...

Dino's 3D models are the best Shenmue related ones i have ever seen. What i and nearly everyone else show here are simple rips from NullDC, Dino's are made from scratch. Ryudo if you had a remote idea about 3D rendering you'd really shut up here.
