Shenmue Dojo

Worked on this for a while as it was the most searching, editing and juggling around with voice files I ever did.
Was well worth the effort though. It's just too much fun to carry the crates like this.

This kind of comparison is something that I had on my mind ever since I got into capturing footage from real hardware. I always wanted to make side by side videos of actual gameplay and not just cutscenes as the real differences between the DC and Xbox version are found there. I hestitated doing this for so long because I wasn't quite sure how to play the game similar enough two times that the footage syncs. Well I tried something out and it worked better then I thought and it was good enough for a first release. When I eventually get to do this for other quarters I'll want to show more of the details and zoom in on them.

I was playing through Shenmue for a bit and decided to use the Debug Beta for convenience.
I was just watching a cutscene and rotated the analog stick around for fun when suddenly...

This kept me entertained for hours. And I still have to watch the Fangmei videos that I put aside because of their time amount. The neighbors probably heard me laughing at the 'tiny terror' and arm wrestling videos.

Ah this is actually pretty cool. Shows that the beta didnt have the looking system locked during cutscenes. Interesting. Nice find!

First video from the new capture card. First time I upscaled Dreamcast footage to 1080p.
The video itself is traditional. I just love playing like a fool and finding these little extra fail cutscenes.

I remade one of my earliest mods.



It's not just higher recording quality and resolution, I greatly expanded the "script" with a lot of new voices for Chai and Ryo. Also hacked some HUD graphics and sound effects and even managed to get a new 3D model into the scenes PKF and have it textured correctly with a sneaky little trick.
