Hi all,

I recently did an interview podcast with Old Geek Young Geek podcast.

For those who do not know, "Young Geek", is the Shenmue Guy from the E3 Shenmue 3 Stream:

Cool, and that one guy so needs to play Shenmue 2 lol, how dare he be called the Shenmue Guy, and not have played both of the games

Also the guy running this Podcast, really needs to play these games, they're so godly.

Well the nickname comes more from his E3 Stream cameo lol

Yea I figured that. I always found it weird, that in a room evidently filled with Shenmue fans, he's the only one standing up in response(visually anyway). Well anyway he has a responsibility now, time to play Shenmue 2.

Shengoro I liked in particular the Old Guy brought up the fact that he felt the funding wasn't clear with Sony and it seemed like Kickstarter was unnecessary for Shenmue 3 to use fan funds. It's important for people to express these concerns and the way you answered it was well handled. As far as I understand too, this is very much an indie game project. Also it's not uncommon for publishers to take on and give Indie's a hand, but the lines seem blurred still without crystal clear clarification.

I think there's always that lingering feeling, even in my own head however is what sort of game could Ys Net have made with only $2 million dollars for a green light compared to as you mentioned, the amorphous stretch goals that we were chasing. Would it simply have been an interactive story similar to fan made Shenmue Gaiden or a very bare bones game of what Shenmue 1 or 2 was in comparison. These still linger in my mind, perhaps you could bring to Cedric. It's such a difficult subject since it encroaches on Shibuya's own funding contributions.

In the other thread, where there was a french interview, the interviewer asks Cedric about $100,000 for investment, I wasn't sure whether this was for Shenmue 3 or for another game they were talking about. If it was $100,000 that is a significant amount compared to any of us including Peter (that's not a challenge Peter if you're reading!). However, from a development investment point of view, it's not a whole lot for a 2.5 year project. It could equate to two full time programmer's salaries for a year.

These are just some of my thoughts which I'll let you decide whether you'd want to include them for Cedric. I love the guy for his friendliness and his enthusiasm.

Some great interviews from you man. As a community I think we should highlight these more rather than get so caught up with click-bait negative sites and reacting badly to them. Only positive steps will head in the right direction.
