Shows Ryo on a bike. I was just wondering if this was a beta version, or soemthing that you might be able to unlock. Again, sorry if this has been posted before but it didn't say anything about it in the FAQs.

It was just a beta shot. The bike is nowhere to be found in the game, and is unlockable by no means. Would have been cool though.

its not fake, its from the beta, on youtube theres a video from the beta of ryo riding around on a bike but i cant be bothered to find the link so you can search yourself

It's one of the scrapped ideas in the process of development.

Personally I'm glad it was, back in the days of Shenmue 1 it would have been tricky (I assume) to implement the proper physics to make the bike move realistically, so I'm glad Ryo went on foot afterall.

I always thought the reason they scrapped it was not a physics issue, but simply because there were too many people walking around the streets. If you've ever watched Wong ride his delivery bike in Shenmue I, you'll know what I mean.

I wish they would have just left it in. To be honest, it's not necessary in Shenmue I, though it would still be nice to have. Shenmue II on the other hand, it would've made long trips between Aberdeen to Wan Chai a lot more fun. The major problem with that is staircases leading into every QR. Either there weren't as many planned staircases in the early concepts, or they figured carrying the bike up stairs every few minutes would get tedious. Joy seems to do it rather easily, though. :?

But yeah, it's an official shot for sure, though I can further confirm the bike was originally planned to be included in Shenmue II, having found the model for this bike and Ryo's motion data for riding in the discs. I'd love to mod my way into riding it, though I'm not sure how I could unlock the event, if it's even possible. If the gameplay data exists somewhere and I could just discover a way to execute it, then I'd be riding a bike in Shamoo.

A bike, though not necessary, would have been nice in the harbor in Shenmue I. Moreso than needed in Dobuita and Wan Chai, the two beta areas where the bike was shown.

And just another note; that guy in the foreground isn't the same guy who runs that shop in the final version. I can't tell if that model's used anywhere else in the game, does anyone else recognise it..?

Ryo looks like a dork on that thing. might as well but a baseball card, some streamers, and a little bell on the side to finish it off . Im glad they got rid of the idea.
