Shenmue II Mod Topic

(Chapters 3-6)

Postby Miles McCloud » Fri May 16, 2003 5:47 pm

Also, seeing as you have access to shenmue 1 models, could you e-mail some to me? I'd like to see if they're compatible ( I would KILL to play as Gui Zhang in Shenmue II)

My E-mail is mccloud\softhome.net

replace the \ with @ to make it work (gotta watch for those spam bots)

Thanks!!

I Found Yuan and Wong, and I think I found their textures. Unlike Ryo's model and the ones not in the HUMANS.afs, the textures are seperate from the model file. I'm now working on a way to combine the two, no success yet.

Miles:
You cant get this tool since I havent released it yet :)
With my "Shenmue ripper" tool and a PVR plugin for Adobe Photoshop you can extract every single texture, view them, edit them and inject the textures back to the AFS,MT5/7 or any other file.

I have tried using my tool on Shenmue 2 Xbox. It can extract the textures but they are not viewable. They are still PVR format but they changed/added something in the header so it cant be opened in Photoshop.

Shenmue 1 models in Shenmue 2 xbox doesnt work, I have tried...
But playing as Gui Zhang in Shenmue 1 would be possible. Maybe I'll try it

Can you post some more of these textures, 'cos I've been trying to make shenmue skins for the sims for, like, urm, a while, and it's kinda hard working with screenshots.

It's a shame the file names aren't actually the character's names. I'm one of those obsessive types who wants to know the names for all the Shenmue II characters :P

Do you know the name of that green-haired patrolman at the harbor in Shenmue I who swears a lot? I think he was in Asia Travel the second time... with Jimmy and those other guys...

If whatever that program is works with Shenmue II, then that would just ROCK.

It's Kazumi Minowa, but he isn't a patrolman, just a punk who loiters around the harbor and works part-time as Jimmy's bodyguard. ^_^

Thanks a lot, man....
He kinda does what Goro does, you know? Puts his hand by his eyes and looks around, so I thought he was a patrolman... but he is awesome no matter what he is!
PS- How do you learn that name?

Sweeeeet, I'll have to rip my Shenmue 1 discs just so I can do that.

Strat, hurry up with that tool! It's exactly what I need. I don't need to view the textures, just remove them and inject a differant one in. I've been trying to do this with a hexeditor manually with no success. This has to be done in order for playing as other charactors in Shenmue II to be feasable.

I'll post a complete tutorial tomarrow, hopefully you'll be able to combine them successfully.

I'd imagine Joy's motorcycle is readily available in the objects directory, so it's more than possible. It would probably float on it's side though, so it would be an odd experiance. Like when I played as a lucky hit table. The Joy model itself is differant in some way than everything else, the game still crashs if I try to load it.

All that changes is the model. So if you play as Wong you hear Ryo's voice.

Which gives me an idea...Switch Fangmei and Don Niu's models...

LanDC, if you knew how to access the other models, why didn't you explain how? Theres 1500 files in the HUMANS afs, all with numbered files, none of the models work without being edited in a hexeditor. You could saved me about five hours of experimenting[quote.]

Simple, because i am to busy. lol. I have been hoping to find unused characters. or niao sun or ziming or something. right now though, my main focus is getting musics from shenmue 1, i have found 3 unknown ones so far.. and yeah, strat, what in the fuck are you using to view those textures??? i could put it to great use. man, i wish there were a way to convert mt5 files into mt7. so shenmue 1 characters could be in shenmue 2.
