Postby hiro94 » Thu Feb 14, 2013 2:12 pm

I don't know if playing Dreamcast Iso's is frowned upon in these forums but i was curious.I just finally bought Shenmue 1 and now i want 2 for Dreamcast but i dont have the cash for the second one on Dreamcast. So i was wondering would i be able to burn the game to Cd-r's?I have done it before with Dreamcast games but someone told me Shenmue 2 didn't work very well on Cd-rs is this true?

You need to remove a lot of stuff to make it fit on a 700mb cd, buy a usb joystick and play it on nulldc

If the Shenmue games were available to purchase in any way that Sega would profit from, then some people might frown upon piracy. Fortunately Sega is allergic to money and has therefore protected you from such ethical considerations.

pirate away, it's not like you're hurting am2 by doing so at this point, in fact this can only be beneficial to them, the more people who know about their franchise the better

If and only if you had an X-box, too, I would recommend you to get [the ISO :?: of] the X-box version of Shenmue II. In my opinion, it is a better version, especially about the English voices and other goodies (like you can take photos, et cetera), unless if you are okay with the Japanese ones with English dub and/or want to play Shenmue II no matter what (I bet the last one is valid for you).

some times it is damn near impossiible to get an emulator to work properly. [believe me i know i was in high school living at home broke trying to play (at the time) last gen games] Lag, super fucked up textures, (for lack of a better word) blurriness. i tried all different plugins and emulation software. trust me. hes better of saving up a few measly bucks and buying an Xbox and Shenmue2. Quality doesnt come free but in this case it does come cheap. and dammit its worth it

NullDC is better than no Shenmue 2. Give it a try and see if you like it.

And remember it depends on the PC you have to play it well. NullDC is not perfect yet. But, give it a try, like shengoro86 said.

I was secretly urged to ask the following but now I am publicly urged... Could the above ethical pattern be applied to other Dreamcast games (and not just to Shenmue)? I am really urged to get and play some sweeeet DC games again and relive with my Dreamcast those nostalgic good ol' days.

To be honest, Dreamcast games are very cheap these days on ebay, I got Shenmue I and II for £30 each last month and got Jet Set Radio, Virtua Fighter 3TB and Quake 3 Arena all brand new and factory sealed for £5 each, You can pirate if you have no other option but playing the real thing is the best way imho and it's really not that expensive

Emulating has it's advantages, mainly being able to play the game in HD. sure it doesn't clean up the mucky textures but it makes the image a lot clearer
