Shenmue Dojo

Didn't know where to place this topic, since is shenmue II related I think this is the proper forum

That said, about 2 years ago I was playing, VT3 TB and I did nocited some background texture that reminded me of Shenmue, so I inmediately booted Shenmue II and I went to the Man Mo Temple, that's wat I found.



I don't know if any other game from SEGA (or other VF stages) share or have textures in common, does anyone found something like this before? if so I would like to know!

It's not that strange that dev studios use stock textures. There was a specific plaster hole that was overused back in the 2000's.

No surprise considering who made them, AM2 and of course it being a VF RPG at first.

And yes the VF5 Jazz Bar nod was pretty cool. The game had a couple other Shenmue nods.

It's not exactly the same. The sign of the "real" MJQ Jazz Bar has the MJQ part in an orange tone.
Also the sign is inside the bar, not on the front. Still a really cool nod to Shenmue. VF5 has quite a few of these.
In the Quest Mode you can fight against a Pai called "Shen Fa" and a Lau called "Lan Di". They even have fitting mottos but unfortunately I forgott what they were exactly.

I remmeber seeing a fake name called "The tree will never die".

Good eye ya'll. Lot' of VF refs in shenmue games as well...I think Shenmue originally was VF RPG or something. And since Shenmue dev started in the Saturn days....AM2 probably had started creating the textures...I can't imagine how many archives of textures for Shenmue I and II exist. I could see why AM2 recycled some textures for VF...I mean why not?! Similar settings and environments.

Theres an initiative right now to mod Ryo into VF 3TB.
