It's probably just you man. I loved Guilin. It was perfect after the action packed sequences in the Yellow Head Building.

I think its just you man. Guilin was a special part of the game for a lot of people. I prefer Shenmue 1 over 2 but Guilin was my favorite part of the whole series. Its also my favorite map in BF4 lol

It's just you dude. That was my favorite part of Shenmue II. Honestly, it's the only thing I loved about that game. The first one is miles better in my opinion.

Nothing gives so much pleasure as to wander to some spot far from the world, where the water and vegetation are unsullied.

- The Tsurezuregusa of Kenko

Guilin is one of the best moments of the game. It's spent in nature, and it's beautiful.

Funny, I genuinely thought it was you.

Anyway, I share BlueMue's feelings on this. Disc 3 would've made the perfect end to Shenmue II, and Disc 4 could've been - for the fans, at least - the perfect opening for Shenmue III. It just had that cinematic style that Suzuki seemed to be shooting for, and was as good an ending as Chapter 1's opening was.

How can anyone dislike Guilin? is the most charming piece of gaming history.

If you want to visit HK too you can go to shenzhen from there then get a high speed train from Shenzhen to guilin. the trip is a bit less than 4 hours and costs around 20£.

Yea that's basically the plan. The trip wouldn't be a long one, and consist of visiting HK, Guilin and the Great Wall. That would be it really. Just freaks me out going to countries where you can't speak a single word of the language.

Yeah It's advisable that you go through a travel agency to book the ticket from Shenzhen to Guilin as people have said it's very hard to buy tickets at the station if you don't speak Chinese.

Nope I just happened to be looking this up a week ago. I stumbled upon some tripadvisor threads with people who had done it who explained some issues they had and how to do it properly. I'll try and find them for you.

Also hotels in Guilin are ridiculously cheap off-season so it would be a good idea to go around spring.

Edit: here is the most useful thread I found

Weather-wise, spring's probably the best time to go anyway, I'm assuming.
