Shenmue Dojo

I know the first two games have been discussed to death on this board, but I haven't played through either game in 7 or more years, and with the news of Shenmue III, I'm starting to reminisce on the series more than I have in a LONG time. And, now we can actually discuss the games with purpose.

We all love our anti-heroes, and naturally Ren is a fan favorite. He and Ryo have some great moments together, especially during disc 3. But, what is your favorite moment(s) involving him?

Mine would have to be when you're laboring up that aborted building in Kowloon and doing those frustrating as hell QTE's over the planks. Relieved, you finally make it to the top only to find Ren waiting for you. Turns out he just went and got the key to the elevator. I know it pissed a lot of people off, but it was just perfect. It had me in stitches. Some great characterization for a great character right there.

Another good one is the drug store scene in Kowloon with the bell.

Here's to hoping Ren makes an appearance in Shenmue III.

Lol, that was hilarious, and Ryo's (lack of a) reaction made it even funnier if I remember correctly.

Mine is when he places a bet when Ryo has to fight one of the martial artists in Kowloon. Then after you win the fight, you find out he bet against you and lost a bunch of money

I screw up the stealth deliberately to piss him off.

Ren is the prick of Shenmue. He mindfucks Ryo to the point of which he gives up, I swear that moment in Ghost Hall Building when Ren says he found the key. Lol, but that's Ryo's fault for not asking for a key in the first place.

Ren using the elevator and Ryo's resulting grimace is classic, but I think my favorite was when Ren needs to take a leak while they're handcuffed. Annoyed, Ryo pulls his own arm away and tries to distance himself but Ren insists on using both of his hands (one of which is still handcuffed to Ryo) to unzip/hold his junk while he pisses

I like Ren Japanese voice a lot so I lIke all the cutscenes of Ren. If I have to pick a favorite moment when Ryo and Ren are handcuff running.

Pretty much anything involving Ren was great. I thought Eric Kelso did a wonderful voice for him as well.

When he kicks the bucket full of nasty trash right into Yuan's face.

Ren is a bitch, he is always moaning, running away from ryo, even he cheats because he's afraid of entering Yuan's place.

Guizang was the real man.

But, Ren is a much more interesting character. Guizhang is a badass, but he's basically just s hardened version of Ryo.

I have always hoped that Guizhang will show up in the future. Him and Ren together would be priceless.
