I've just caught 3 leaves and found the piece of paper with the symbols on in the book at the start of disc 2. I made my way down to Yan Tin Appartments as I got wind from an antique shop that the old kung fu bitch might be able to make sense of the symbols. I opened the main entrance door to Yan Tin and... BOOM!

Black screen with the error message: Data Read Error -30 textures .pks

Anyone else had this experience? The game music was still playing faintly in the background but my Dreamcast was making all sorts of strange noises.

Hope it's nothing serious...

Update - On second play it seems to have let me in without any issues. Weird, though.

Had the exact same thing last week, like you said, worked on 2nd playthrough.

yep, this subject screams one thing:
gdi assembly not reading the disk properly.
if you can get a optical drive cleaner, run it through the drive a few times, and try again.
(the cleaner is like an audio disk, but with a pair of drive head brushes on the disk. comes with a small bottle of ispropyl for the brushes. a drop on each. )
...
if the issue persists, and the disk reading gets harder, it's possible the laser requires a pot calibration?
but one step at a time...
