I'm gonna go ahead and pretend in my own sheltered, pathetic world (in which I never leave my underwear,) that this being printed in OXM is propaganda, and henceforth! Has officially been announced by Microsoft. Where da celebration party at? I'm already drunk.

My good man! ChaiOgawa = Shenmue 3.

Gotta get my kickstarter going, and put my one elective class of video game design to good use.

I'm a loooong time lurker on this site (got Shenmue xmas 2000 and was one damn happy 5th grader for several months) and am just now making an account.

My two cents; I've read hopeful yet vague announcements over and over for almost 15 years now. For the last 10 years they've been consistently disappointing. Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, I've never met a person in real life who shared my enthusiasm, or any enthusiasm at all, for Shenmue. The closest I've had to a Shenmue convert was a lacrosse buddy in high school who liked to come to my house to play plinko in Hong Kong. As it turns out, a surprisingly small amount of people in real life would like to play a game of lucky hit.

I WISH Shenmue was super popular because I want Sega to have a valid financial reason to finish the story, and I want Ryu to get revenge against Lan Di and figure out what the hell was going on with that sword and are those mirrors magic or what??! However, I won't even allow myself to think Sega is planning an HD remake because these hopes have invariably led to disappointment. The series hasn't been a financial success for them. It's a hard sell. In fact, I remember grade school friends laughing at Shenmue when they saw me play it. "No space marines? No thanks." Teenaged kids are still a HUUUUGE factor in hard core video game sales, and unfortunately Call of Duty, Halo and the like have a lock on them.

I want to be wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. My guess is Sega is simply keeping their patent fresh in case they want to release another stupid mobile game or shenmue online 2 or whatever misguided BS their questionable market research department thinks can make them money.

Then again, I was motivated enough to make an account on this website specifically to weigh in, so maybe I'm more hopeful than I'm letting on.

Rock on, dudes and dudettes \m/

(Double post for the win. Sorry about that.)

Feel free to take a moment and tell us something about you. Back when I joined the Dojo there wasn't a thing such as a new member forum, so make us of it, haha. ;-)

Damn, all these hints that it may come out on PS4, all these other hints that it might come out on xbox one. Multi-plat may be its ultimate destiny? Damn this just gets more and more confusing...

Id love it to be multiplat but does anyone else think the sales of it would be better as an exclusive? The hype around an exclusive built specificly for one set of hardware always has me more excited then multiplatform games.

In general (and not Shenmue specifically) I think games that are multi-platform have the inherent potential to sell better than system exclusives, since they can reach a wider audience. I, for example, never cared as much about systems as I did about the games. It's the games that are important, not the system on which they run. Okay, I may be a rare exception, as I own nearly every game system in existence (since I was born, at least), so on one hand I don't have to bother on which system a game will be released. But, on the other hand, exactly that is the reason why I have all these system - because I don't want to bother, I just want to be able to experience any game jewel that might be out there.
Just my two cents, anyway.

Guys.

It's fucking nothing.

This thread is why the Shenmue fanbase and the games themselves are considered a joke by gamers. Nothing is going to happen.

I have not said by any word that something might be going to happen. ;-) If something happens, we well notice. :D Until then, we can do nothing (well, in a manner of speaking).
