Sega teases Shenmue HD release on XBLA/PSN

With SEGA trying to use digital games more than ever.
Can't shenmue become a episodic videogame like the new sonic the hedgehog?

Sure, they had to form a new team with YS but since this is a game for the fans nobody would complain if SHIII ended up being in the old dreamcast engine.

And they could use previous games re-releases sales to fund themselves.

This year I'd really place my bet on a E3 announcement. Is there already a release date for Jet Set Radio? I think Sega might announce Shenmue HD close to that date to gather more attention

On topic: i will die to replay these again in HD! Playing shenmue in widescreen will feel so cinematic that i just have chills thinking about, so i hope this is true.

Wow! That is literally the BEST shenmue video I've ever seen! (even tops the official ones!) Ahhh, just makes me think how really special and wonderful the franchise is and the amazing atmosphere of the games. The quality of the video, editing and transitions were all superb and meaningful, and I loved the ending too, which left a great effect on me and hopefully any SEGA exec watching it. It's beautifully and quite simply geniously put together by someone (no suprise there Ziming ) so passionate as to successfully capture to essence of what makes the franchise so timelessly great for everybody here. It really does justice to the world of shenmue. Thank you for making my week! :-)

As if there weren't enough new/returning members flooding this thread with their excitement about the latest news...

Just had a strange feeling that I should check up on the dojo for Shenmue 3 news and I see this. Well, it's no Shenmue 3, but great news regardless. I think making this wonderful game available to a new generation is a great idea. I know there are a lot of new gamers out there who are getting sick of the same old first person shooters, looking for something different. Making Shenmue available to them is GRRRRRRRREAT!

I know it's officially just a rumor, but I know it'll come out. My guess is that SEGA was cleaning out their closest. They find an unfinished Shenmue 3 and go, "What a waste of money. If only there was some way we could profit from this without investing any more money." Then someone comes out with the idea of testing the water of Shenmue in a new generation of gaming. I know this may just be wishful thinking, but I still haven't given up hope after all these years. I can't belive I'm 25 now and still think about Shenmue 3 every now and then.
