Sega teases Shenmue HD release on XBLA/PSN

So, I've been on and off regardings Shenmue. After I played the second one I couldn't wait for Shenmue 3. But as time passed I slowly started realizing that it's maybe not going to happen. Every now and again (once a year or so) I get in to a Shenmue period where I catch up on all the rumors around this masterpiece of a game series and a couple of days ago I started searching for Shenmue news.

So I've been around Shenmue Dojo for a long time, never wrote anything, never became a member. But since I read the rumors about Shenmue 1 and 2 HD maybe coming for XBL/PSN I had to know more. However, I can't find anything newer then March 14th-17th when the rumor spread.

People are slowly stopping to talk about the rumors, going back to their everyday life, 'cause wanting something so bad as we all want Shenmue is kind of a rough feeling, so we need to forget if we want to be happy ^^

I'm just checking in to see if there's any more news at all?

I just ordered Shenmue 2 for the XBOX, going to play it and re-live the good old days.

Nope, at least not any good news since those likely empty words where initially spoken by the Sega rep. We have had denials from Sega though, but I don't think that's what you came here for.

So, right now there's no reason not support TeamYu's campaign, and on the 3rd tweet Sega asking them to "make Shenmue HD or #GiveYuTheShenmueLicense. I think that's a fair ultimatum.

No but they did announce Yakuza 1 & 2 HD

^I know, is that a pisstake or what!? Since the initial hype of Shenmue/Skies of Arcadia HD remakes, they go and announce that they're releasing Nights HD and (and accidently announce) Yakuza HD, but still no mention of Shenmue or Skies! We're not getting Shenmue or Skies HD this year, from the looks of things now.

SEGA look at their most requested hd ports, see Shenmue at the top and decide to announce every single game on the list except shenmue it seems, well it would be nice to play through yakuza 1&2 in hd seeing that I haven't played the first and I don't own a ps2

but seriously SEGA, I hope the reason you are taking so long to announce it is because of the size of the game and the time it takes to remaster

and lets not forget it's summer and still no release date for JSRHD yet, some of the SEGA employees should stop touching themselves so much and give me an excuse to give them my goddamn hard earned (ok not that hard) money

I guess all we can do is wait. But we all have been waiting for so long.

I actually started looking for a Dreamcast and Shenmue 1 and 2. However it seems as if though the prices have sky rocketed. At least here in Sweden where I live. So for now I settled with ordering Shenmue 2 for the xbox. I do miss 1 though. It's not the same playing only 2. But for now I think it will do to settle the most of my Shenmue abstinense.

Too bad SEGA won't listen to the fans. I really think that HD remakes would sell and that a lot of the bad economy of the Shenmue series lies in the fact that they only released the first one on the Dreamcast. Not the most succesful console. A release on the ps or xbox would've reached a much bigger audience in America and Europe. Also it was too easy to copy games to the Dreamcast.

If we are going to get a HD release this year we most likely won't hear about it until around September or October. These HD re-releases always come out quite quick after an announcement with Jet Set being the rare case that it isn't. With the game being set in the winter and having Christmas themes it would most likely come out around November.

Not everything But somethings yeah.

Maybe I'll look into ordering from the UK then. I really wanna play both. However, if we do get the HD games this winter I'll feel like I did a stupid thing ordering and playing these games on the Dreamcast. On the other hand, if we don't get the games I did the right thing. And if I get a Dreamcast I could also get some of the old classic Resident Evil games

I really do hope for the HD games this winter though. It would be the best thing that happened since sliced bread, or something like that.

True, it is still possible this could happen, though I would be quite surprised. Lets all hope Sega come through and do the right thing! They surely can't keep re-releasing more and more of their back catalogue and leave Shenmue as a glaringly obvious omission.
