The New Shenmue Dojo

I really don't understand the more Shenmue central view some people want. We have had almost no news on this game in years and evreything that can be said has been. Even if it came out on XBL or PSN what can we talk about? It's the same game. Only thing I can think of is how the download bar looked when it was at 66%. I always felt that the Dojo was more a gaming forum then Shenmue forum. Unless Shenmue III comes out I can't see there being anything to talk about evreything has been said. And well done on the gallery but it isn't something that intrests me. I'd rather use the forum then look at pictures of the game.

As for the the gaming press standards it's what we have all said is wrong with others forums and why most stay here. The dojo is the pirate ship of the ocean that is the internet.

As for the Shenmue central view. Hm, I always saw the site the last couple of years as a place where Shenmue fans gather to discuss everything from Shenmue to other games to subjects like politics, news, science, philosophy etc etc. Which I think was quite different for a gaming forum. Maybe the main objective is to make the image of the site more Shenmue focused again towards outsiders?

About the gallery and the other media. I think it's very cool though that all of it got transferred. I mean, it was after all part of the site before and no other site has something this comprehensive about Shenmue. It's also the reason why AM2
used to have a link to this site. Because it was one of the main sites when it came to Shenmue information.

As long as it doesn't push away old members and bring in new guys that are actually cool, I don't mind the new changes.

Does it even matter? I don't think so, especially when a few like you start questioning the site's new direction Yama (and Ziming for sure, since he gave the torch to him) want: an actual Shenmue-centered place. BTW, I'm not even a proper "admin", I have admin priviledges because I'm the back-end coder and need access to the whole site/forum.

If you read my introductory post, I said I'm planning on getting into the series because Yama talked about the games some time ago and I'm pretty interested. Before that, I had no idea about these games.

Lastly, I'm here because I've helped Yama to build this new version of the site and actually listen if people want an old feature back with a smile in the face, not just because I'm his friend.

Not much maybe since I had noticed the "coder" title when the dojo opened. It seemed kind of logical to me that someone involved with this would need some access.

Im still confused as to what problems there are. I mean there was a few niggles and requests yesterday with the opening, which commendingly got taken on board and amended extremely quickly. So cant we all just relax and enjoy our new home? I love it!

I am confused too. lol But yeah, totally agree.

This is not some dictatorship where we do what we want without consulting the members. All we ask is a bit of patience. If you want something, just ask for it (reasonably of course)... we will deliver! Only without the drama, please.

all our old posts are there, the forum looks more modern; our logins still work, we still have our post counts, we still have the shenmue dojo.... there is nothing to bitch about; it wasn't that long ago Shenmue Dojo almost went the way of the dodo when planet gamespy hosting went bye bye. Now you have a quick, new version with nothing lost; enjoy it!

Post counts are gone, and there seems to be no way of changing your custom title for now.

On that note, they definately are strange titles aren't they? Keep friends, Shenmue III and Afterburner..
