Lan Di is featured in GameSpot's 'All Time Greatest Villain' contest, giving users the oppurtunity to pick their own favorite villain. The contest is done through competition brackets in which users eliminate the villains one by one through pools.

Good recognition for the series but still not convinced after knowing little to nothing about him to call him as a simple "villain" not going to debate it with anyone ,just not going to vote.

I never liked these BS polls on websites and continue to not support them.

Yeah, I usually don't vote either though figured they were at least trying to do a little more than a typical web poll. Quite honestly, it was just nice to see Shenmue mentioned at this point. Sad but the truth.

Definately has a lot more effort than a standard 'best villains' poll on Gamefaqs. I take it you need to be a member to vote?

Yeah. Not trying to sound unsupportive of Shenmue series, any recognition like this is great to become more well known.

I just have my own stances on a few things where sometimes as my usual self come off as so blunt as if I hate it to some peoples eyes. Which I surely don't. Shenmue still remains my fave series ever.

Ooooh so Gamespot think he's a villain. \:D/ @Ryudo Big Boss (MGS) is probably the most multilayered villain in gaming history infact the only game where he was featured as a proper bad guy is outdated and retconed now yet he's on IGN's list at a pretty good number but Lan Di is left out even though he's a portrayed as a clear villain in Shenmue in so many ways. I don't know how Big Boss can be more of a villain than Lan Di.

Even if Shenmue 3 came out and Lan Di ended up holding hands with Ryo in a rose budded park he was still portrayed as a bad guy in general, with the information we have of him now.

IGN and Gamespot are shit sites as pretty much most these "professional" sites. Just a bunch of hipster assclown mainstream so called "teh hardcore gamerz" run them. Why I avoid them. They are just higher paid idiots than gamestop workers with just as worthless views.

After all as shown in "Last game you beat" topic what is wrong with Numerical reviews and these sites.

The only positive I get from this is sadly most the public goes to these places for opinions when they are just really good for news and coverage of events but if they can get some word out for Shenmue then great even if it is misguided as hell.

I agree about these sites (especially IGN) being wastes of spaces when it comes to their opinion but i wont go back on my own opinion of Lan Di being a villain not until I get some more story on him anyway so far he is like Gamespot described him the mysterious villain.

Anyway it's all about recognition at the end of the day.

Villains don't need to be multidimentional to be great, they just need to represent a certain type of evil that has its apeal to the audience.
