Rom writes articles for a French gaming site if I recall correctly. He's probably our best bet. I'm pretty sure he's been present for events that Suzuki's attended in the past too, so he's probably already aware of it.

it is not France but in the independent Principality of Monaco :D :D near also Italy. Anyway even the website is wrong: it says Yu Suzuki is currently working on mobage/pc version of Shenmue City.... wasn't the service closed?

A second phase was to begin last year. Or perhaps its being developed for the western devices. Either way, its another opportunity to question Suzuki and get a yearly update on anything Shenmue related. If we could get some Italian fans, or journalists to ask questions, that would be great. Id especially like someone to push him hard on the Kickstarter idea. To simplify things, if its all about the money, then i would honestly believe that a Shenmue Kickstarter would be one of the biggest gaming Kickstarters so far.

Shendream/David from Shenmue Master has plans to go. He's currently awaiting a response from the organizers of the show if they can spot him in for a interview. It was through David that Kenji was able to interview Yu Suzuki at the Toulouse Show.

Somehow, the cynic in me is really doubting that we're going to get another "I think SEGA will let me make it."

I'd love to be wrong though, of course.

Yu is a nice guy I'm sure but I feel he is afraid to answer directly any questions regarding Shenmue. As if he wants to do something but also afraid to for some reason. Not to mention Psy whatever it was and Gai and SO just all failed. Hate to say it but he may not be the guy to handle Shenmue anymore. Might just have to be someone in the industry now who has the drive the youth and the money and the direction the series would need. I'm not sure I have faith in a guy who just seems to not have it in him anymore and so shaky on anything ambitious. Like a once star athlete now favors his leg after an injury from 2 years ago just loses confidence in themselves.

The reason behind Psi failing was pretty fucking stupid. He said it was canned because of friction burn to the finger when swiping across the touch screen. I refuse to accept that as a game-breaking design flaw when touch screen began to take off with styluses. There's no reason why they couldn't have used them instead. So yeah, you're probably right, he's just lost it.

I kind of feel the same way. I really hope he does drop another line like that though :)

Also, why does Yu only attend these completely random gaming shows?

He likes wine so much that he designed his logo around it.

Monaco is slap dab between France and Italy.

Join the dots. :D

I'm fairly optimistic for at least a somewhat optimistic response, like we've seen in the past couple of years. Always hopeful we'll get something concrete, even if it's just talking about the story a bit. Hopefully, this isn't a bust altogether and someone at least asks him about the status of Shenmue and it gets reported.

Not that I'm expecting it as soon as next month, but does anyone think that an event in a setting like this might be where someone - likely Suzuki - first lets slip that Shenmue III is being worked on? Arguments against it - other than the obvious one, the unlikelihood of a third game at all - might be that it's too small and obscure an event, but I think that's what makes it the perfect place. No matter where Shenmue III gets announced, the gaming media will be all over it if and when it does.

Very hopeful for a Shenmue related interview, whether it go good or bad. We've gone a long time now with no news whatsoever.
