Doesnt seems quite as promising now. Hopefully we get a video soon with him speaking Japanese, that way we can see and hear how confident he's reacting to these questions. A 'maybe' with a cheerful smile vs. him looking strait faced and somber can tell us alot about his state of mind in wanting to continue Shenmue.
I bet he's tired as hell in having these questions asked to him. Shenmue 3 must be a nightmare for him to have with all this weight on his shoulders from fans. I bet he just wants to get it all behind him. Question is how will he get it behind him? By continuing the struggle and eventually making the game? Or by letting it go and making a new IP to close out his career in whatever fashion he wants. Lord knows he's going to want to retire within the next ten years.

I think we are so used to being raped anymore poop just falls out our asshole. At the same time some people just gave up on the series even some staff never EVER post in Shenmue forums. Then a few that just keep at it as the die hards they are. Then posters like me that every so often peek in try and take part then drift away and eventually come back as a cycle.

Frustrating

Upload is starting.

I'm save at home By The Way (What a trip)

Have 3 parts of the conference:

Part 1 (20 minutes)
Part 2 (20 minutes) Most interesting
--> Missing part because My Nikon J1 was shutting down because of overheating (think because of the girl next to Yu)
Part 3 (last part)

Upload part 2 as first (don't know it become ready today, because I cannot verify the upload)

Never been less happy to say I told you so. Even about Shenmue HD, the extra sour cherry on top.

While he's certainly capable of taking a creative turn that nobody expected, I've a feeling that anything he does will always be met with murmurs of, "Yeah, but it's not Shenmue 3..." It's almost like a Ted Dansen or a Kelsey Grammer trying to get new projects off the ground after Cheers and Frasier - it's a big hurdle to get over their long association with a much loved franchise.

Maybe, perhaps, it's possible..can't hear these words any longer. :(

I was expecting more from this interview. Maybe the the video gives us some other interesting clues. I hope my french is good enough to understand a few things. :D

btw, hello everyone, my first post here. I'm a shenmue fan from the very beginning, since i played it first on christmas day. After reading in here for a long time I finally managed to register.

Welcome aboard the ship. Yeah, we're tired of the same old song and dance with those ambiguous descriptions. It looks like Shenmue HD isn't in the works either. Cheers to another 10 years!

Doesn't really seem like any sort of positive response. Yu obviously isn't actively pursuing the possibility of developing Shenmue III, he's waiting for someone to come to him about it. This whole "kickstarter-like funding" quote is him basically saying it'd be a last resort, and you've also gotta consider what "I'll think about it" actually means.

How many times in your life have you heard that? And how many times in your life has it basically meant "yeah, sure, whatever, I'm only saying this to humour you."

I'd also be very wary of any Shenmue III projects that appear on Kickstarter in the near future. Don't donate to it, there's bound to be some nob eds tryna scam the shit outta you. So, if one does appear, do your research before blindly sending them your savings.
