Well at least I have a ps4 in my possession. It looks like either that or the Wii u will be the only option

That's if Sega need funding? Otherwise they just release it on the formats they want.

Lets not talk like this is some indie developer.

They don't need funding, but it's clear by now they've made the choice not to make the game without it.

Or just not make it at all 8-[

Still think those HD remake articles from a couple years back had a good amount of truth to it. SEGA seem to have slowed down on those? Maybe they didn't sell well enough? Or maybe they are updating the updates for the new consoles as well?

I can't believe it's already been so long since those Shenmue HD rumours. And we've seen not a smidgen from Sega since then. Not a smidgen. I don't count the inclusion of Ryo in that racing game, I think of that as 100% Sumo and not Sega. The people who are claiming that Sega is being a cock tease by that inclusion just don't know the backstory.

MS are silly, Shenmue 3 and the bone would have been a match made in heaven. Two entities both seeking for a chance at redemption, and they could have found it together. But fuck that though, with Shuhei is were I want to be, he has so much more swag than Phil Harrison. He gave Team Ico over a decade to develop some artsy game which still hasn't materialized, so I think he'll be cool with chucking a couple hundred mill at Yu and letting him wile the fuck out like it was the 1990s again.

If Microsoft didn't want anything to do with shenmue then i wish they had taken this stance before they killed off shenmue 2 for dreamcast in the states. Hardly any of us had an xbox at the time and it was a bargain bin title by the time we did. Talk about lost momentum...

^ completely different times/management. Peter Moore did a lot of deals between companies.

Lets not forget III was given the go ahead for the original XBox. Still wish they had ported both games over instead of just the 2nd but then in a perfect world the series would have been finished on the Dreamcast.

If MS is content with churning out their first party line up for the life of xbox one then I can say I will never purchase one. I consider the first party lineup to be incredibly dull and repetitive. I know I am in the minority, but if a future is going to exist solely off of their desire to build and fund first party franchises that I didn't particularly enjoy on the 360 then I am going to take this as confirmation that the Xbox One is not for me. It's hard to say that sitting on an 11 year xbox live gold membership that I have never let lapse, but MS is making it abundantly clear that their goals going forward choose to build games and experiences that don't cater to me. They can release any games they feel are profitable, at the end of the day that is what it's about. But, I am glad I didn't jump the gun and hop on the xbox one train out of loyalty, because I would be feeling pretty burned at this point.

I do not even know why people would assume it would come out on Xbox anyway.

Doesnt make sense for a company that has no japanese fan base to release a game that has to do well there.

It would be a bad business decision unless Sega had marketed it correctly.

Sony is the only option now.
