Shenmue 3 Kickstarter announced at E3 2015!

Hi, I really need to post this here...I plonked down $310 for the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter during the first hour. It is a very pleasant surprise to learn the good news this morning. It's been a long time coming (14 years to be exact) and I must say: well done everyone! We are finally given a chance to speak with our money and prove the naysayers wrong. Thank you to Suzuki-san and everyone who has spoken on their passion and overwhelming support for Shenmue 3. It has given me a lot of hope and to know there are many people out there who also believe Suzuki-san deserves a chance to finish the rest of the Shenmue series. Thank you everyone, and good night.

That is not what Shenmue 3 will look like. It was simply a concept video. Wait until development properly starts. You'll see a massive leap in the graphics.

I don't think we should worry about that, probably it was done very quickly. But I wonder if they will go for a more realistic and less "cartoony" character design.

Yeah, I am sure that they will fix the design during development.
Anyway, I am happy to see that they keep the coulorfull render of the Dreamcast Shenmue II (it's even more colorfull).
As for the designs, it may be more "realistic" but they have somptuous 2d drawn artworks and a consistancy to preserve.

Yeah its like 20k every 10 - 20 minutes lmao. I hope we smash the Stretch Goals. I got 310 in so far, will have at least 1500 in by the time the campaign closes.

Not entirely sure, but it sounds like an interesting thing. Being able to have deeper relationships with other characters in the game world.

I cannot even begin to state just how excited I am by the thought of what the game will look like nowadays. The NPCs, buildings, environments, everything. I do hope they change Ryo's design back to his previous classic look though. Shenhua looks okay though.

So awesome! Quite a shame the character voices have changed, going to kind of ruin the experience, wait? Why am I complaining? IT'S FINALLY COMING! Yu Suzuki is carrying it on from the original script right?

Pretty much everything in that video was a work in progress. That means voice, environment, models, everything will probably be jazzed up before release in ~2017.

And since this is a kickstarter estimate and I'm much older now, I know better to expect anything at that time. It'll probably take til 2018.

Anybody have Corey Marshall's number? I hope he isn't a smoker.

I still can't believe this is real. I'm going to play some shenmue 1 and shenmue 2 tonight for the first time in my life with a very different mindset knowing I will play the ending in the future
