Wow. I wasn't watching, but have been checking the thread. Was nowhere near as optimistic as most here.
I'm watching the kickstarter video now. Does anyone have footage from the conference yet?

Year after year, I watched E3 in the hope some sort of Shenmue announcement would be made. Year after year, it would be a deflating, soul-destroying outcome.
Now that it has finally happened, I'm in a state of shock. I knew, one day, this moment would come, but I still wasn't prepared for it.
Thank you to all the Shenmue fans that have helped make this happen.

I haven't been here in so long that it was two computers ago and it took way too many tries to remember my login. Still, I felt I had to come here and say something. SHENMUE III is coming. Seriously. You know it. I know it. And this time we aren't deluding ourselves. This time we aren't relying on shady rumours, mistranslated interviews and portals to a parallel dimension where the Dreamcast had a DVD drive and became the most successful console ever.
I'll say this much though, if for some reason it doesn't reach it's goal on Kickstarter...oh man, I don't even want to think about it. It's time to walk out of that damn cave.

Just over a year ago, people were jumping up and down in excitement over the Postmortem. Yu gave a discussion about Shenmue (I) and we were all up in arms about how, surely, there would be an announcement. And then, there wasn't.
Now, the guy has tweeted (from E3, no less) a direct reference to the series - a tweet he knows holds a lot of weight - and we're being just about as cynical as can be. I'm sure it will be nothing, like usual, or something minimal (at this point, an HD re-release won't have any impact on getting a 3rd game made).
Still, I hope our cynicism backfires the way our hopes usually do. 
Smart man, past self. No, this isn't a pat on the back. It's just funny that, as a community, the day we were most cynical was the day we were waiting over a decade for!
