Corey Marshall in negotiations to reprise role as Ryo Hazuki

Q: Will the original voice actors reprise their roles?

YS: I auditioned Masaya Matsukaze and Corey Marshall for Shenmue I & II, and I believe their voices are perfect for Ryo’s voice. So I’d definitely like to have them reprise the role again this time. We’re currently in negotiations and I’m sure they will both be happy to do so, so please look forward to that.

Don't get me wrong I really like Corey Marshall as Ryo and have many good memories of odd dialogue from Shenmue 1 but I found Shenmue 2 (on Dreamcast) alittle more serious with the Japanese voices and English subs.

Like anime - I prefer to watch it in the language it should be (Japanese voice) with English subs. Except Dragonball Z lol

Yeah. I hope to have that option too. But, i like to play games and watch some other stuff in their original language.

But the subject of this thread is another and, if the original voices in both cases return, it would be the more logical and great decision made.

I'm in the Corey Marshall team here, although I completed Shenmue 2 on the Dreamcast like 5 times before it hit the Xbox, i never got into the Japanese voices because I was already so used to the English voices. Corey is Ryo for me, and he's been extremely vocal that he'd jump at Shenmue 3, so i'm really happy about this

Hmmm, I hope there is dual audio, since I like both versions of Ryo for different reasons. Would be cool to play it in both languages (English VA and Japanese VA).

It would be awesome to have both languages on there with all the subtitle options. Everybody wins. Surely it would be a greater hassle to organise how many discs to print/codes to send for the Japanese audio and how many for English and then make sure they end up going to the right people.

I would prefer the dub. After living in Japan for several years, Japanese stops sounding special. I even remember watching some of the older games on Youtube that I used to enjoy in Japanese and not being able to believe I once found them cool or cooler than English.
