Nintendo are offering gamers a chance to vote for a video game character of their choosing to appear in the upcoming Nintendo DS and Wii-U title, Super Smash Bros.

Help transform Ryo Hazuki into a Smash fighter by voting for him on the official Nintendo website. All you need to do is visit this page and enter your gender, the character you are voting for (Ryo), the title the character appears in (Shenmue) and why you feel this character should become a fighter.

The deadline for entries is October 3rd, 2015.

Vote now and together we can raise further awareness for Shenmue!!!

what's next? cats and dogs living together, merlins and doves getting along? :lol:

no way, SSB and shenmue are two totally different entities (ryo in this case) and i would see it as a portent to (new) fan service and the dissolution to the shenmue franchise. (pissing on the ip would better explain it.)

I'm not a SSB fan, but if Ryo gets into SSB too, I'm definitely buying SSB.

First Ryu(who Isn't even dumbed down either, and the SSB version is way better then any Ryu Crapcom made in a long time, Nintendo really did him justice), and now Ryo, just omg that would be so awesome.

I respect your opinion. Though I believe no matter what you feel about this, having Ryo in the Smash Bros character roster would greatly help the chances of Shenmue 3 actually succeeding financially when the game comes out. At this stage I would not be against Ryo being featured even in a Mortal Kombat game, as these special appearances only got to help increase the character's popularity and in no circumstance they affect Yu Suzuki's core vision for the Shenmue series.

As much as hate Smash Brothers (and this whole genre of games) I think there is no such thing as bad publicity, so maybe we can create some buzz around Shenmue if we get Ryo in there.

That said, I may have participated in this thing, but I'm definitely not gonna buy a game like SSB.

Look at the last time Ryu was on a Nintendo console(think it was Alpha 2 for the SNES if I recall), frankly I don't think they'll deny a char, just on the grounds of never being on one of their consoles before.
