FFX launched only a year after the launch of the ps2 in japan and it looked better than anything that game before it in general,character models for the npc's might not of been as well done as the best character models of shenmue/II but overall obviously a cut above.

DOA2 at launch was more or less on par with the dreamcast version with both having slight differences but the dreamcast models have a higher polygon count if i remember correctly.

But in terms of the development of the game it must of been a rough ride,developing technologies that didn't even exist and have so many people focus on different elements,also sega put basically everything into shenmue as it was suppose to save the dreamcast from oblivion with the impending doom of the ps1 successor,the people involved look bloody miserable!

I know developing games can be grueling and work ethics are second line when investors just want them to get on and get the game out and start racking in the $$$ but at least with shenmue 3 they are using an already well established/developed engine with Unreal engine 4 so they should be able to get on with creating content quite quickly as Epic's tools are second to none.
