^ It's still there, just that the "thanks received" and "thanks given" stats are now viewable on each user's profile only.

After considering what everyone said, we hopefully found a happy medium.

On post pages: No post counts. No Rep.
On profile: All stats viewable.

You can still use the thanks system, however now that barely anybody will truly look at others stats, it can be used more for what it was intended for and less for any popularity. More or less it's a non issue, click the button or don't, it won't be directly viewable nor take the place of a post count.

Not a big fan of the Karma system since I saw it used in another MB I sorta frequented in a gaming torrent site and people cough up the longest and most pretentious sounding posts clearly used as "karma bait".

We do that here too but on an occassional basis (we as in everyone whose name is not Kiba). But if this encourages it to be more on a regular basis, even among newer people, I wouldn't stand it. At least we don't have a negative Karma button. People really did lose their shit everytime they recieved a negative karama and kissed lots of ass in order to gain more + points the post after that. It was disgusting.

But if it doesn't reach that level, then i'll be fine with it. But I can already guess who will recieve the most karma. Most of us tend to agree with each other anyway.
