Yu Suzuki officially announces Paypal support for Shenmue 3

(Chapter 7 and beyond)

Well looks like I'm donating.

Seriously though guys although this will bring in some extra cash I doubt it will hit the $10 million mark. Bloodstained made about $250k on paypal and at the last update Mighty No 9 had made just short of 200k. I'm sure it will bring in a tidy sum but not millions like the Kickstarter which can get money from people who aren't 100% sure by making them panic on missing out.

Be interesting how long they keep the paypal open as well as you need a cut off point to know what your game budget actually is. You can't make a game for 2 years (I honestly think it will be delayed by a year or two) without knowing what your budget will be like next month.

The link should have been up the moment the Kickstarter ended imo. Kickstarter had a lot of momentum during the final hours.

Lord knows when it's coming.

Yeah, seriously.
This is Awesome Japan's biggest project/ cash cow... you'd think that would be worth a few extra hours on a Saturday.

I think PayPal will do more than what Riku is thinking, but I do see them delaying 3 into 2018, since 2 years does seem like a small window to me.

I'd love to see SEGA do this with their other properties they don't think are profitable like Panzer Dragoon, which is my favourite SEGA series outside of Shenmue. Wonder if the success of this Kickstarter will open SEGA up to the idea?

I love the idea, but the backlash from the system wars fanboys and journalists will be deafening.

Screw them. The industry is stuck in a constant loop of the stale, boring shit that we get nowadays, thanks to those dumbass "journalists" who just are happy with nothing but mediocrity. If I want to support my old favourite series, then that's my own choice to do that. It's my own money and whatever they say won't change my own mind. People should just think for themselves.

Yes, but Awesome Japan doesn't work on Saturdays. Not even for this exceptionally rare case.

They're way too busy celebrating, after essentially having gotten paid to take suggestions from the Shenmue community on how to run a KS campaign

Panzer Dragoon! I still have all of those except Saga, it's so expensive it's like a rental. I'll buy on Ebay then sell it back. One day I hope I can buy it to keep. Orta was probably one of the last great Sega games to be honest, with the exception of Valkyria Chronicles.

I'm not sure if Awesome Japan are involved with the Paypal system but it reflect extremely poorly on the campaign that after weeks of pleading from the community that they don't have Paypal system ready to go the instant the KS campaign ended.

Shenmue 3 is never going to get the kind of media coverage/headlines they are getting now yet once again Suzuki and co have completely dropped the ball. I heard Monday is a public holiday in Japan, so will this somehow go up on Tuesday?

Honestly without the fanbase, it would show how utterly incompetent these people are.

@Sonoshee

Obviousilly my love for Panzer Dragoon is , well, BIG
Saga is my no1 game. Ever. Period.
I am 40 and gamer since my 10th (MSX and nes)
For some reason Saga resonates with me, i love the Saturn, if you look at that Beta Shenmue footage it is incredible...

Some say Saga is overrated, YU said that he had the utmost respect for team Andromeda and that Saga was a masterpiece not fully respected by most...
I love it, different then Shenmue, I ADORE Shenmue, but Saga has rhis special place in my heart.
I think Azel is such a mystique and beautifull character.
I fear that a remake of Saga, or even a spiritual succesor could be a big letdown for me...
In that respect, i will carry my love for PDS with me and let it rest.
However, IF a new PD would be launched on KS, i would be broke, like really broke, so pleaaaaase, no PD KS...

Remember Scottish Duck, crying he wanted to buy a house, and now couldnt anymore because of Shenmue KS, that would be me with PD.
So let it rest for heavens sake:):):)

Perhaps they're holding out until they've collected the money from this round?
