This is why I'm not a big fan of the petitions/campaigns. At this point, I just want to know "why not?" and what happened with Shenmue Online. On a level, we all know these answers, but if they're not gonna give us closure on the story, they need to do it for this whole eleven year (and fucking still counting) saga.

Also I wonder if it would be possible to port potential DLC back to the dreamcast. I know you can convert half-life mods for Dreamcast.

I gotcha. Here's another random thought. I don't understand why Sega was ok with proceeding with a 'Shenmue Online' game but arent pulling the trigger on Shenmue 3 or Shenmue HD. That money could have been poured into either project.

I remember hearing about a Shenmue Plugin that AM2 was selling a while ago, with that they could theoretically easily build new shops and such. They could open up access to places that aren't available in the normal version of the game, like the Grand hotel and actually open up the shops in that damn mall.

This is a very mysterious thing which is already going for 11 years now. Sega spreads some rumours to give the fabs hope and when everyone prepares for a good thing to happen, Sega breaks their hearts. If we look at this logically, the chance of an HD remake to make profit is remarkably high. That would also attract more people for that game series. It is really that simple. But if the hd shenmue games failed, sega wouldnt make high losses. Producing something that already has most parts done is easy. Motion capture and voice acting is already done as well as concept arts, the story and music. Also a fail wouldnt be that bad because it wouldnt mean the end of shenmue. A sequel can be published in other ways. Im sure Suzuki San would tell us tge end of the story if shenmue 3 wouldd never be released as a game. Yup.

Yep. Very difficult to come across too, as it came out before Autodesk absorbed it into their line of software products.

There was a version of SoftImage|3D 3.7 (1997) on MegaUpload before it went down. I know because I had it. I had gotten it from the oldapps website forum.

Sadly, I do not have it anymore.
