Hopefully speaks to the extensiveness of what we're seeing if Cedric is coming along.

Feels like something is lost in translation with this update, man its worded poorly. Even just that first sentence, guess we will have to wait and see what they actually do once show time starts.

Is it poorly worded?

Seems to be trying to preemptively dampen expectations that the public area event means playable demo/looping video at a booth.

We are go for a Shenmue event at the general admission entertainment area! Unfortunately, we will not be doing a large event like showcasing promotional videos or placing playable demos in this venue, but Yu Suzuki will be there and give all of you a big welcome greeting.

Unless your brain switches off for the words "in this venue", it's pretty clear what they mean.

The rest of the update makes clear what they're going to do at the show.

Latest news about Shenmue III will be shared in the business area, and we will be posting an update through Kickstarter and our official website at the same timing. So stay tuned to our webpage and Kickstarter page during the gamescom.

They're showing the game for press in the business area (which we already knew), but now they're confirming a KS/website update will release alongside (which we assumed).

Can we please just stick to the facts?

"..it's pretty clear what they mean."

That does not mean they will show promo videos and playable demos in the buissnes area. This is just pure interpretation. The statement here is they will not shows any videos or gameplay in the entertainment area. Thats it.

Latest news about Shenmue III will be shared in the business area, and we will be posting an update through Kickstarter and our official website at the same timing. So stay tuned to our webpage and Kickstarter page during the gamescom.

"They're showing the game for press in the business area "

..again pure interpretation of yours.
The word here is "News". So what could this mean? Perhaps some information about the gameplay, maybe some screenshots and videos or indeed pure gameplay. We don't know due to lack of details.
In case they are going to show some videos, screenshots, gameplay why not mention it instead of only "News"? Thats why some/many fans becoming suspiciously and also because of the last updates in the last years which didn't show any gamepaly footage or trailer.
Instead of posting meme pics about shenmue complaints and accusing fans of a attempt to decrease the expectations we should at least try to understand why some fans are not fully convinced about the update..its not without reason!

Stick to the facts? Sure.

We will be attending Germany's mid-August gaming event gamescom 2017! While we are still working out the details with our partners, we plan to show our newest movie clips, share the latest updates and even make some new announcements.

We will be participating in the business area. The area is limited to media and other business members of the game industry.

Maybe "some fans" have problems with their memory not being able to span back further than a month.

Hell's bells. Are people being intentionally obtuse or what?! Do you need people to explain to you that the sky is blue, and chew food for you? Videos being shown to press and included in KS update that week. Shake hands with Yu Suzuki for the public. What's the problem here?

If anyone is seriously confused about what words mean, just accept the reassurance of those who aren't.

Thanks. I have indeed forgot about the information. So at least we can expect some movie clips but still the part about "Playable demo" is pure interpretation at the current state.

Right, but what did I say about a playable demo besides the fact YSnet are trying to dampen expectations in the update by specifically saying it won't happen?

I don't think there's going to be a playable demo, not even for press.

Perhaps you refered only to the promo videos.

I didn't refer to either. That whole part of my post was about YSnet trying to dampen expectations of a public demo/looping video at a booth, rather than the notion some people have had that it means NOTHING of Shenmue III will be shown at Gamescom.

C'mon.

Baffled by how some people have interpreted these gamescom updates. It's almost as if they think it's too good to be true. Either that or they're just a bit simple.

The entertainment area commonly has playable demos. They're simply clarifying that despite being in the entertainment area for the Meet & Greet, a playable demo isn't part of the deal.

It feels like a comedy of errors sometimes.

Part of it is just not accepting that something nice might happen. I can understand scepticism when it looks like we're just chasing smoke (E3 this year and last), but YSnet have been pretty straight with us about their plans over the last month and are likely filling us in on the details as they evolve.

Also another thing to point out (despite some wording that might confuse some people that don't follow the updates regularly), is that their messaging last months has been great, saying beforehand they won't show it at E3, talking about the delay for the game before showing anything so it doesn't end up dampening the gamefootage (and looking at how journalism works, it would just be more stupid bashing), and making an effort to get in touch with fans there, it's something that should be really applauded.

I'm gonna be a little selfish and hope that nothing pretty big gets announced so it doesn't steal SIII's wind, and that the gamescom guys do a good job promoting it / getting the word out.

Pretty exited about everything, a little scared, but mostly hopeful.

People who has been misled are literally stupid according this forum, ok.
Sorry but it's another communication fail in the long history of Shenmue III campaign fails. And it's not a question about pessimism as I can read above.
The CM job is to explain more what you supposedly need to anticipate any fog, even the foolish ones. I don't know why the team just didn't put a few-words reminder about the business part. It's easy to criticize people to forget the previous update when you are a Shenmue over-obsessed fan. The only real tools here are the media.
