Kiske, i think your logo is fantastic!

The only other thing i would guess YS.net would want is for the 'n' and 'm' to look more like normal letters for them to be legible to newcomers.

Of the two that you've worked on, I'd keep the 's' from the first one (without the circles) and the 'h' from the second one that you've cropped. And by applying a flat vector and boom YS.NET and awesome Japan have saved some precious time and dough too.

Which goes to show lol you should either be paid or aknowledged in the credits. Either way, we appreciate your work! :-)

I made a last version based on your comments, still not perfect (I kind of distorted some letters) but decent enough to show in which direction we would YsNet to go with the logo.

I may send this one to @Shenmue_3 if I find the courage... will see were it goes. (In the trash can probably )

Guys, i found a leak of the next Project Update!

I definitely would prefer the original font, and I think it needs to appear in the game. But I understand the reason to change it on the boxart (hopefully nowhere else). I'm not too keen on slightly altering the original logo in order to make it more legible. What makes the original so great is the beautiful cursive writing, and so I don't feel it should be touched, or something similar should be created. So a completely different logo on the boxart would be preferable IMO. I tried to just think of something really simple, but sort of classic, to fit in with the theme of shenmue and this is what I came up with. Just a basic serif font almost as if it's not a logo at all, but simply a translation of the original japanese logo.

I like those a whole lot too. Did you intentionally make them look like a tree, or is that a happy accident?

I like your box art and logo ash55, and I agree that messing with the original logo may not be the best thing to do.

The font set for the box art is simple, elegant and very readable but when i first saw it, I've had a "déjà-vu" feeling.





My concern with this font style is that Shenmue would look like other games when it's a very unique game on its own.

That said, I love the placement of the various elements (kanji, name, numer).

Aye. I see what you mean but that wasn't the intent. It's just hard to make it fill up the space without using ugly bold fonts etc. The idea I was going for was just that the japanese logo is THE logo, but the font is just sort of a translation, like you'd see in subtitles for example. Here's another attempt to show that thought better... Not really happy with them though.

I'm THIS close to diverting all Shenmue 3 funds into a Swiss Bank account and holding it hostage unless Yu changes the logo back to how it was.
