Who would be in favor of a fan made Shenmue 3?

This one is simple. Just sighn what you feel and give youre reasoning for feeling the way you do about it. This topic isnt to bash other peoples opinions nor is it to try and organize a fan game. I just want to see how many would be for or against it.

For me I would be for it if it was done right.

Pros of a fan game:

- Shenmue 3 more then likely will not ever be made so we can take it into our own hands.
- The fans would not mistreat the game like a money grubbing company would.
- There would at least be a little closure.
- It could really show sega the support the game could get if we could show them how many people played the game.
-considering technology today it could really be a solid 3d game.
- at this point its our only hope

Cons:

- We dont have the official story (however there are huge plot points and things that have to be resolved, so it could be a good story if done right)
- It would not be official
- To create a story alot of things would have to be made up like locations, and characters so it could really stray from Yu's story.

On a final note I know the reason many of you would be against it is because we wouldent have the official story. But if it isnt treated like an official game and as more of a fun project to give us some closure, fun and bring a little light on shenmue then I say why not.

I dont think so, Ive seen alot of topics around here about a fan made Shenmue 3 (one I made myself) and the general reaction was kind of mixed.

fan made games are hyped up for no reason. none of them are ever finished so this topic is pointless..

If it's fan made, it's not Shenmue 3. Simple as that.

I would be in favor, BUT the game would have to very well made. I don't want a really out there plot, that would completley stray away from the orginal, and another big issue would be the voice acting, it would have to pretty close to the original. But overall, it probably could work, it just wouldn't have that same Shenmue feeling.

Usually the biggest hurdle for these kind of projects is the technical side. If the game looks and plays like commercial games (kind of) it's easier to accept a fanmade story and get engrossed anyway. If the game isn't close to how games are made nowadays it gets a bit harder to get into the story if you know what I mean. That's how I think at least. But I wouldn't mind it of course if some people created a game. I would certainly try it.

PS I voted for definitely to give things the benefit of the doubt though I'm more inclined towards the second option.

Wow Im actually shocked at how many people think this is a good idea. Dont get me wrong, I think its a good idea to and should get some consideration, but the fact that 54% think its a good idea is impressive, I thought itd only be like 20%.

It would be awesome if Yu Suzuki's brain was released on the internet so we can at least READ the ending.

It would have to be so controled to be good.
And hell, even so, it wouldn't be Shenmue 3.
Just a tribute, even if an excellent one, with a small-big miracle happening.

Only an original author can finish what he started.
Specially in the case of Shenmue, whose story is said to have been concluded before the game was started.

Well like I said before we need to get a Shenmue script from Yu if we don't get that then the game would not be shenmue.
We need that script now before Yu dies.
If Yu Dies and we don't get that script then there will never be a Shenmue 3.
Also if we make the game now it would look like crap like shenmue zero.
So it would be great game if we wait like 10 years.....
Today only 1 person can make an awesome SNES game alone even better than most SNES games.
So in like 20 or 10 years only 1 person could make a Game Better than most Dreamcast game.
But right now if a Few amateurs make the game it would suck.........
It required so many people to make shenmue 1 also they were PRO.
If only we could get a powerful company like microsoft to purchase SEGA from the Garbage Dirty Pachinko company Sammy.
Then we would get shenmue 3.....
