Postby ShenSun » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:03 pm

Hows it going everyone?

The good ppl of the popular site http://www.shenmuemaster.fr have recently uploaded a youtube video of the Yu Suzuki Conference that took place at TGS.

Bare in mind this has been translated via google, so if there are some inaccuracies hopefully a french member of the dojo can fill in the blanks.

Thanks peeps and enjoy.

What made you move from the arcade to RPG?

At the time, working on the SEGA Dreamcast, they needed a strong title. A headline, the RPG genre, was necessary. Nobody wanted to do it, so I did.

What was the degree of progress of the "saturn version" of Shenmue?

We made on saturn shenmue as a prototype. The rendering ... the elaboration of the characters .... the construction of the development of cities ..... etc quests. This was the basis of tests for Shenmue.

Is it possible to see Shenmue on xbox live and psn?

A Port to download?

Do you/did you practice a lot of Martial Arts?

kung fu .... To be realistic, I went to China and learned a lot. I went to the shaolin temple, they hurt me a little, I took many shots from around !.... I am weak………… I am only interested in my shape! (laughs)

What do you think the use of QTE in current games?

In other games? in current games. As I think it's a very good system that everyone uses, I think it's rather a good thing.

SHENMUE GAI ?

In Japan, Shenmue gai was developed on mobile phones, but we would like to develop further on the smartphone?

Is a western shenmue gai release possible?

I think there is an opportunity. The area of a cell extends continuously, yes, there are opportunities.

Why the title Shenmue?

With respect to the meaning of shenmue .... This is the name of a tree.... Shenfa means the flowers that grow on this tree. It is really a very old story around shenfa. It is a story referring to this.

Why not translated Shenmue 1 and 2 in french?

(laughs), the French version, you have to do!

Have you seen a black car yesterday?

(laughs)

What do you think of the difference between the quality of your games and low popularity?

Uh you have all heard today, I do not think that such a difference exists!

Crowd sings happy bday shenmue and celebrates its anniversary in france.

Thank you so much

Shenmue 3?

rumors spring each year!
If I have the opportunity, luck,
Ive been asked by many people, Please let us know! I think I really need to do it

From your work what is your favorite game?

SHENMUE

So did he not even answer the question about if its possible the Shenmue games could get released on Xbox Live and PSN in the future?
That would make it possible for many new players to try the Shenmue games and could make the demand for more Shenmue games way bigger.

The time is perfect for a shenmue 1 and 2 hd release. However, i doubt sega will take advantage of this. Shenmue has got alot of coverage this year but i guess sega will turn a blind eye as usual.

Well, it's nice to see that Suzuki still wants to do it and acknowledges the desires of fans. I think this is a good time as ever to really bring Shenmue back to a mainstream audience. Forget all the Sonic games.

im just worried that sega will one day bring back shenmue 1 and 2 when the current consoles have reached the end of their life cycle. I also think they may put it on xbla and psn with zero effort in advertisement and marketing.

If the game is to be a success, we need more people other then the die hard fans to buy it. There also needs to be a massive marketing campaign to attract the new generation of gamers.
