Id love a Shenmue anime. More specificly one that covers material and events other than those weve already seen in game. Such as life with Iwao before his death, Ryo growing up, Back story of Fuuku san, Nozomi, Ryo's friends. All that. Theirs alot of potential to help develop a more detailed universe there.

A collection of shorts (like The Animatrix) would be great.

I'm surprised there's n oone in the community that's tried this yet. We must have at least a few talented artists in our ranks.

Indeed. It will happen, surely. It's just that right now, all the community's efforts are dedicated to mining and making public all the music and graphics and art, and also to MiTT's Lost Chapter game. As soon as these projects are successfully complete, no doubt some storyboards might be drawn up, of course, volunteers are always welcome.

I know a few skilled animators who are also Shenmue fans. If anything materializes (and I mean very short shorts!), I will let the community know. I think it would be a lot of fun to at least produce 30s clips now and then with a short convo or sketch in the Shenmue universe.

Only, and IF only there's no SIII. And even so, it depends on the anime take...

Im not really fan of the idea because there would be more than a chance it would suck bad. Its more of a trend nowadays to slip little bit of bad animation here and there as if viewers would care and I would hate to see one anime ruin the whole saga. I would take it as a book much rather.

Yes sure it could be let down like Duke Nukem was but atleast we would see how the story was suppose to end like it should have. If Yu isnt on the bar anymore and there would be something prominent mistakes then shame on him.
But if outsider would do anime show about shenmue and do it slipshodly it would be outrage.

Think about it. Which one would displease you more? Outsider ruining the game or Yu accomplish his visions which would sadly fail to reach present standards. (i.e. too much qte etc.)

Though I wouldnt mind anime if Yu would closely control the project.
(fan projects are always welcomed)

I wouldn't mind a Shenmue anime, as long as it is a serious anime and NOT like the VF anime. Last thing we need is Ryo acting like Kintaro from GoldenBoy.

I don't even consider that Duke game to be Duke Nukem Forever. The alpha of Duke Nukem Forever, back in the Quake days, kicked that game's ass. I really hope Shenmue doesn't fall to the same fate. Yu Suzuki wouldn't allow it as long as he is closely related to the project.

They should do it just like the VF anime that was fun. Might add more dimensions to the Shenmue characters.

That would be interesting Ryo acting as Kintaro been a pervert with all the girls after him

Since Shenmue is based on reality I think a J-Drama would had fit better than anime.
This Drama is called Sushi Oji is really good. :)
