I think its likely that these Akira quest chapters don't conform to the exact way they ended up in the shenmue games.

firstly there is no image representing the boat chapter.
we know for sure that the boat was an official chapter that was cut, it was chapter 2.

there is also no image for chapter 3 Aberdeen/Wan Chai.

i wouldn't be surprised if various chapters were added, removed, and moved around.

Pirating was a big reason why some titles failed on the dreamcast. But Shenmue was doomed from the get go. Every dreamcast owner had to buy the game twice in order for it to make a profit. Brilliant idea Sega.

Right, but with the engine in place and close to eleven games pondered, it'd have eventually made a profit over time. The outcome obviously wasn't the plan, it was a long term attack.

You know that really does makes sense. Seems plausible the Shenmue tree somehow survived from this earilest stage of the developement in a way.

In the middle of image three you can see a grey face, this looks kinda like the giant stone face that is seen in the project berkley CG intro.

If Yu Suzuki already has written 11 novels he should just release those, it is better than the pointless waiting for Shenmue 3.

If all hope is ever lost I'm sure we'll receive that much, I have faith in that. He's seemingly shopping it still however, so we're not at that point thankfully.

I think yes. ShenHua is connected with Luoyang.

Do you remember the picture of mountains at Shenhua's house? They were suposed to be important.
Could these mountains be the ones in the chapter 8th?

Seems a lot more was cut than just chapter 2 unless the train bit was to be moved to later in the story.

That's awesome! People were giving R3N a hard time about it and turns out he was right! Way to go R3N! That really makes me want a bonsai of a peach tree.

I think its clear his route:

Japan -> Hong Kong -> Kowloon -> Suzhou -> Guilin -> Xian -> Luoyang -> Cangzhou -> ? -> Beijing -> ?

I guess we now know where should Ryo go after Guilin...
The chapter in kowloon seems a little bit off with the train, maybe he was supossed to cach the train to Suzhou, was it a cut chapter?
I still cant understand where that last location is even with the high resolution but really doesnt seems a famous place, but I have no idea...

Its possbile they changed lots of little things in the story by now even thought most of it seems coerent.
Is also possible they ended with 16 chapters after rethinking the Story from VF to Shenmue.

We should not forget that this was the planning for Virtua Fighter RPG. If I remember correctly, Yu Suzuki spoke about how they later wrote everything in chapters and then changed it to Shenmue, where we know it's 16 chapters. Things surely changed during that time.
