Shenmue Dojo

It could look 10 times worse and I wouldn't complain. This is Shenmue III. I mean..... I still can't believe it all. Honestly. This is a day we hoped for, but being honest, a huge part of me thought would never come.

Me too. If I have to pick on something though is on the models for Shenhua and Ryo, as they don't match the art direction from past Shenmue games. Ryo particularly doesn't even look Asian anymore.

Didn't think the look of that tech demo was all that great either, hopefully they really do change it up and make it look...less...playdoh-ey.

This is like sketching on a napkin, without sketching on a napkin... if you're basing anything on this lol.

My guess would be that all footage shown was made with no budget and not much time but they felt they had to show something. The voice acting is clearly temporary and I'm thinking they shouldn't have even put it in at all.

Once they get the money I'm sure one of the first things they'll do is start on the characters models properly!

Basically, ignore the footage and pretend there was just a Shenmue 3 Logo! GIVE ALL THE MONEYZZ!

Why don't they used the high poly models from the official artwork? or at least the HD face models from the passport? It has something to do with copyright or license problems? aren't they allowed to use the original assets?

The characters don't even resemble to the original ones, that's my biggest concern.

I don't give a shit what it looks like, I'm just amazed that it's actually being made

I'm guessing taking it from the original engine to the new unreal 4 would have been too difficult, and they would have to be remade anyway so why not get used to the new engine and create quick models first?
