I think what we really need its a solid documentary demonstrating the impact Shenmue had for better and worse and why it is important to have such a game brought back. I heard there was a documentary in the making, has there been any progress on this?:

I've been looking at this place and Gaf from the backseat but the way you guys are going you won't hit the $10 million. I think we can all agree it should hit around $6 million just based on how it's going. The thing with the Bloodstained Kickstarter was they took control of the community and how they spread the word. Someone has to take charge of everyone and arrange something, set a calendar with what the community as a whole can do each day. One day tweet and the next day do something else. As it stands you have 200 people doing 150 different things. The Team Tu guys, Shenmue 500k, dojo members and Gaf members all have to come together under one roof and have a game plan. Not start a thread saying everyone tweet this hashtag and run off.

you need someway of directing the force of the entire community to take some specific action.
putting up a notice on the dojo front page might be good, but then again many people probably link straight to the forums and just skip the front page.

$30 on the 3rd is a good idea, but requires lots of people to participate in order to make an impact.
if we get all the big shenmue youtubers - like alpha omega sin, adam koralik, happy console gamer, scottish duck, Maximilian Dood, lord karnage (classic game room), and Game Sack - to make videos about 30 on the 3rd, thats bound to help.

the 3rd could be a huge push, then the last 2 days could be the final push. hopefully this will bring us a long way towards the 10 mill.

but then again we don't want to peak too early and ruin those last few days when hopefully there will be a huge influx in donations.

edit;

a definite date needs to be decided upon - i would suggest the 3rd - and we all just go for it (30 dollars that is, or whatever you want, but keep just a little bit more reserved for THE FINAL PUSH).

maybe we could even agree to a specific time of day thats convenient when we can all do it at once. if it crashes kickstarter -ALL THE BETTER - this will give shenmue even more publicity since its bound to be reported. it will be a good way to ignite interest again.

I think another important way we can help the campaign is share and express our passions and experiences with the first two games; literally, via streamings, lets plays, HD Emu versions (what it COULD be)- show people WHY we loved, and continue to love, the first two. Even the glitches and the funny moments. I mean we've practically turned the games inside out. Share the experience, Shenmue Memories or something.

I'm going to try talk with Maximilian Dood. If not clarification videos he could certainly inform of the $30 on the 3rd.

Uh huh.

$40,000 in the last 21 hours and still climbing pretty frequently - could be a LOT worse!

My worry is that the campaign has reached its peak. What I mean is, as of now all the shenmue fans have pledged, so there will be very few newbies throwing down money. We can already see it happening. It's mostly just the same folks upping their pledge.
Is that normal for kickstarter? I dunno. I'm new to all this.

Yeah, it's normal

Also a lot of people are skeptic at first, so they wait to see if the game have reached their goal to pledge (something like a kickstarter safety net).

So far there are only 44,206 backers... The total Shenmue fan base extends far beyond that. I imagine a lot of people haven't pledged yet for various reasons (i.e. not keen on Kickstarter, haven't been paid yet etc). I'm hopeful we'll see a huge spike in donations towards the end of the month when people receive their paychecks and we run the '$30 on the 3rd' twitter push.

Yu expecting 10 million from a kick starter is kinda silly though, its unheard of for a video game. I really hope the things he wants via these stretch goals are small frills and he's just not communicating it properly... he made the 10 million goal sound essential...

I do agree that whoever is running the kick starter for him is doing a terrible job of ensuring communication is clear and concise.

Here's what I would suggest:

24 Days to go: Everyone contacts big let's play people and streamers to try and get them to make videos and try to get the $30 on the 3rd thing out there through them. Everyone should contact between 5-10 people each.

23 Days to go: Try to appeal to people who have donated to other Kickstarters. These are people who take a chance on an unmade game. Go to forums for Yooka-Laylee, Broken Age, Bloodstained and the new Toejam and Earl. Find out who liked the game on Facebook and message them. Search who tweeted that they funded it and tweet at them.

22 Days to go: Find people who liked Shenmue on Facebook and message them and let them know of the Kickstarter. Shenmue has 20,000 likes and many may be people who don't keep up on the news. Even people who like stuff like the Dreamcast or Sega on Facebook or Twitter may not keep up with the news closely enough. Most people who like this stuff like it but don't check Gamespot every day or maybe never have.

21 Days to go: Game site invasion. Flood every game sites popular articles of the day's comments sections but not in a dickish way by saying COD sucks. Go on every game sites forum and post about Shenmue and back each other up.

And many more like that.

If everyone stuck to one goal a day and you didn't have 5 people try one thing while 3 try another it would have more impact. Someone should make a fancy poster with a schedule to follow and have it passed round to all the big Shenmue groups.

Yeah, but I think that the goals should be less broad, for example let's reach out to X youtuber, let's flood Y site.

Because if not it's still the same, just people going around aimless.

Have to be careful, though, I've already been accused of being a Sony shill (wish I was getting paid for all the grief I get...).

That amount might be unheard of for a Kickstarter game project, but It's also very unprecedented for a game of a scope like Shenmue 3 (a 3D free-roaming action adventure game with multiple game mechanics) to have to resort to Kickstarter. Usually the platform is used for "indie" projects, and their best efforts so far came in the form of 2.5D action platforms (ie. Bloodstained) and isometric RPGs (ie. Pillars of Eternity). I don't expect we'll reach the $10 million (glad to be wrong though), but having a clear number to strive for lead all of us to be desperate and more focused in trying to bring extra funding for the campaign.

On a side note, Riku is right. We might need organization, just for the sake of efficiency. I suggest we create a poll to vote on an OFFICIAL SHENMUEDOJO CAMPAIGN LEADER. The leader will gather input from all members into one unified topic (hopefully because we need to keep everything at one place), sort and put in writing priority tasks, delegate & designate specific people to handle essential "jobs"; And the leader will then coordinate with other forums such as SHENMUE500K to get this all done as true teamwork.

This is my suggestion, but feel free to correct and implement on any of my ideas, just whatever to make this work, but we need to do it ASAP.
