The witcher 3 has that, but the buildings inside are all really small and don't have that much detail as shenmue's.

Please DON'T have quest markers. This is a big deal to me.

A complementary mobile app that would combine the RPG stats and move prompts that the old VMU displayed and the contents/bonus features of the Passport Disk

So, what would you like to see?

i think there should be more hidden game content for us super fans to find, like the Shenmue 2 duck race or the Izumi Fight.

also more realistic in game content which you can spend the money you earn in shenmue3. ie some thing like - you buy cassettes and can listen to them in game on a tape player or customisable clothes etc (in shenmue 1/2 you couldn't really do anything with the items you bought, in game)

Did any other game had a better "first person lock on" than shenmue ??

Another thing, since this game is going to have choices, would be neat to see those online percentages of what people did like tell tale games or dreamfall.

Also what about some different quests depending on climate, day ?

Maybe ingame online battles, something like in kowloon, but you talk to a guy, wait for someone to appear (like in matchmaking) and have a fight for money.

Do someone remember anything good about shenmue online features that may be integrated ?

Absolutely this. However, one thing I loved about the old games is that every district, every neighborhood, every quarter for the most part and every building you could enter had it's own music. And the loading screen sort of acted as a transition into a new song. I love the different environmental music for each area and I'm sure they could still incorporate it somehow.

They could have the music fade out, and fade-in the new music, every time you walk into a new place.
I liked how the loading screens always told you the date and time, though. But, even without the loading, they could have that information displayed at the bottom while you're still in control of Ryo.
The loading is definitely the worst thing about Shenmue... you get used to it, and you learn not to care, but man, it'd be nice if it wasn't there at all.

Exactly. No loading would mean coming back to the Shenmue I music system and I don't want it. I hope YSnet will find a solution to keep the spirit.
I will ask this on Reddit.

A stamina bar would be great. Nothing annoying that you would be bothered with it constantly, but maybe just having to eat 1 meal every now and then to keep your stamina up. It would be cool if it tied in to your strength and endurance. Like if your stamina was low you would deal less damage and take more damage in fights.

Also a bicycle, or even better, a motorcycle to travel on would be awesome. We all know Yu Suzuki loves his bikes, how cool would it be if we could ride on a bike with Ryo?

Updated controls and camera. Slightly improved fighting system. Improved graphics (but they don't have to be the absolute best).

Two wants from me:

1 - an expanded photo mode, so it's not just from Ryo's perspective but you can basically pause the game, go into photo mode and take a picture from anywhere within, say, 100 metres of Ryo. Want to take a picture from the top of a building, looking at the sunset? By all means. Then, play around with filters on your photo to make it look like a painting or something.

2 - some way of trading capsule toys online, or other stuff you buy. You can trade them for nothing (so donate them), swap them, or wager them in competitions. Say you've got a few Eggman figures and your friend wants it - you can donate it to them for nothing. Or, if they've got a Temjin you want, offer to trade. Alternatively, if you've got an elusive Orta figure you're not interested in, set up a Darts tournament for it, or just set up a Darts tournament anyway with each player having to wager a rare toy.

I want the "Reo Hazukees gun" cheat that i could never get to work on the dreamcast.

No seriously - maybe some extras after you finished the game, so it has higher replay value. Like if you finished the game you unlock the ability to ride a bike or something like that.

^^Weirdly, even without unlocks, I'd have to say the first two games are still some of the most replayable games I've ever played. There's still so much to discover after beating one. Nobody sees everything on the first playthrough.

If I'm honest, I actually kind of still want to see loading screens.
The place (in both English and Japanese), date, and time is just such a classic image from the first two games, I wouldn't mind seeing that appear again.

Newer Fallout games, along with Saints Row 4, have the ability to listen to radio while walking around. I'm not saying Ryo should listen to the radio, but one thing I do remember was that Ryo had a walkman in the first game, and was able to collect cassette tapes. Oddly enough, in the second game, where he's a foreigner starting out completely on his own, he somehow didn't take his walkman with him (maybe Cool Z and them sold the thing, who knows).

Either way, in the first game, you could only listen to your walkman in the ingame menu, but I'm sure some people would appreciate if you could listen to your walkman while actually walking around. It's not exactly a common modern gaming feature, but it would be an improvement to something that existed in the first game at least.

As for modern gaming features, I suppose modern-day walking controls could be implemented for the free roaming aspect. Camera placement could perhaps be improved as well, although I'd like there to be an option to use the camera style from the first two games, as I didn't really mind that either.

I, too, liked the loading screens (even though I diskike the actual loading). But I think there's a way to keep those screens even if we get rid of the loading.

Maybe you could have the info screen show up as usual (with the date and such), but instead of being pure black with white letters, they could be a kind of transparent black, so that you could see the game (and control Ryo), while still being able to see the "loading screen" at the same time.

That way, you could have the screen to show up when entering an area, but you'd be able to be continue playing at the same time. Then after a few seconds the info screen would just fade away and you can continue playing as normal.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well enough for you guys to understand what I mean.

I read the comments, yes this is interesting so far... let's keep on going...

I'd like it if eating wasn't necessary, only optional but if you ate something on your day, you could be given a small bonus for the next fight, like you get +25% power on your first 3 moves, or a defense bonus or anything that can depend on what kind of food you eat (junk food, meat, vegan, etc...). Eating a complete dish at a restaurant brings you all bonuses at a time, but it's more expensive of course... what do you think ?

I wish we can have "useful" collectibles, like music (I like the idea of listening to music wherever we want), playing arcade games on console, being able to get some clothes (not hundreds, only 3 or 4 shirts, maybe a hat or two). I don't want to have the full set of customization like we see in GTA, because that's not the point. Ryo Hazuki wants to avenge his dead father, so he's naturally NOT into the swag thing. Also, I agree on having more "autonomous" citizens, maybe we can enhance this feeling if they could "randomly" interact with each other (I use brackets because this is very dependent on how it's made). I imagine that every part of the day triggers some kind of interactions between citizens.

I've just watched the last video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4Ebuq2MPtQ), and it seems like Tak Hirai wants to get rid of the old QTE system and battle system... and he'd like to make something "ground breaking" (?). What do you guys think about it ? I'm not alright with what he said because :
- The "old" system is nice the way it is, and is really easy to polish (eg: Yakuza series are a good example of a modern Shenmue fight system)
- Making a new system does NOT mean copy/paste a system that already exists (eg: Arkham Asylum, Asura's Wrath...)
- Making a new system can be a waste of time/effort. The result can be astonishing, or... pathetic.

If I follow the idea of Mr Tak Hirai, I'd suggest that :
- Fighting should stay a matter of training ; if you don't train you don't level up your moves.
- Fighting should look "realistic", at least as much as it was in the series.
- Avoid the "one button" style. I don't want the game to be easy.
- About the Quick Time Events, I have a vague idea of something that can look new, but I'll work on that and publish the idea later (with pictures to explain the whole thing). ;-)
