Was it ever determined where this is from? (Shenmue related)

Did Yu Suzuki ever explain what this footage is about? It's not in Shenmue 1 or 2...looks like it takes place in Guilin.

Sorry if it's been asked before, but I've never seen a thorough discussion of this legendary picture

It's Shenmue III.

It was cut content from Shenmue II. Not sure if it takes place before or after the ending of the finished game though. I had always imagined it to be Bailu Village!

I'm not sure which of us handles the wiki (we have to know them, I imagine!), but they claim it to be MIao village...

There was an unused loading screen unearthed from Shenmue II's files that gave "Miao Village" as a location, so that could be true.
