How much will you sacrifice to get Shenmue 3 to $10,000,000

Shenmue 3 could not have been announced at a worse time for me seeing how I just built a $1500 gaming PC back in May, I have 4 cavities that need to be filled, I need new glasses soon, and I have a $200 tech certification exam to pay for next week. However in order to fund the $550 dollar pledge I've already made and the additional $500 to $1000 I will drop on this KS before it ends, I have had to result to doing something I told myself I'd only do in case of an emergency; sell part of my video game collection off.

In order to cover my current pledge I don't have to sell off too much, mostly just a few CIB consoles I have and I complete Steel Battalion on XBOX. However to get an additional $500 I am going to have to start selling games off and sadly the first to go will be NES and SNES games because of how valuable a lot of them are. It pains me to do this, but it will pain me more if I let the KS go by without doing all that I can to help the project become Yu Suzuki's ultimate vision of what he wants Shenmue 3 to be.

So what sacrifices have you made or will you make in order to help fund Shenmue and get it to it's $10,000,000 goal?

Huge respect to you.

I'm not revealing the amount I pledged to avoid comparisons, but I've done enough to be in debt.

Don't worry about the Kickstarter man. You need to take care if yourself first. There's no shame at all with dropping some of your pledge. Donate what your wallet says first, then your heart will be good with that too. I fully expect them to open PayPal after the Kickstarter. So you'll always be able to contribute.

Also...you just said these words: "Shenmue 3 could not have been announced at a worse time." Stop and think about that. Man, we're freaking getting Shenmue 3!!! Don't get stressed, everything's going to be fine.

I am not in serious debt right now and I can afford all the things I mentioned with just my income from work, however aside from maybe the $100 tier, I would have to sell off some of my stuff in order to pledge more than this to the Kickstarter.

You are absolutely right, those things are very important and I definitely would not neglect them, that is why I've had to make the tough decision to sell some of my collection off to help support Shenmue 3. There is no other way and I accept that.

The PAL version? That's always a rental for me. I buy it from Ebay, play it, then resell it to get the money back. It's an absolutely phenomenal game but the price tag is just insane.

I imagine I'd have put myself in severe dept by the time the Kickstarter ends and that I'll be living off of crackers and water but hey... Small price to pay.

Yeah. I hate debt. So that's cool you're willing to sell stuff you can live without to get something you really want. And that's great you can cash flow the necessary stuff like cavities.

I don't have enough shit to sell to bring me up to the $3k required, so I'm happy to just pledge all my non-spoken for money n live off soup for the next few months. That jacket though... Never been one for merchandise, but it does look good. Hopefully they won't add a tier for replica mirrors. Don't really wanna go round robbin peeps at this stage of my life. Defo woulda considered takin out a loan though if my credit rating wasn't shot to shit.

If I didn't have another 11k in student loan debt in addition to moving out to a new place soon I would donate more. I'm happy with what I'm getting though.

I have medical bills currently, so my funds are limited. But here's what I will do for certain, after perusing my budget:

I've pledged $60. On July 3rd, I'm increasing to $100. I'm also the same day giving my friend an additional $60 so he can back (he is completely broke and worse off than me.)

Finally, before the end of the Kickstarter, I can contribute an additional $45 or so it looks like. So I will. And then throughout the intervening year I will donate to PayPal once they add the option (I'm SURE they will,) whenever I can.

That's the best I can do, even if I skip games etc. I'm strapped this year due to kidney stones and other health issues sadly.

I'm a stone sufferer too. I've had about 10 spread out over a decade and I'm only 31. Passed all but one naturally. Other one needed a lithotripsy.

Ah, a fellow sufferer. Then you know the agony LOL. Let us dedicate our enduring of this horribly, indescribably painful affliction to Shenmue! :D

OP, I kow that can be hard but. A lot of these games and things just sit there. Having actual content and a game is much more worth while. Don't feel too bad, I sold about 10,000 dollars worth of games and systems about 3 and a half years ago. You can imagine what I had to get that much money.

Nes zelda new, games part of almost every major gaming system (saturn, nes, gen, 64, ps1) and that includes many mnt and new titles. Panzer saga, even the most mint copy of final fight cd I had ever seen in my life. It was even better than most new ones in store the day the game came out :( haha

It sucked, but. I figuere I can always get them back again, games or no material things should ever be such a top priority in life honestly. So, it's cool right? :)

This came at a bad time for me as well. I just made two large purchases, a car and a piece of production equipment.

I will be selling everything I can—games, software, movies, DVDs, Blu-Ray, memorabilia, old game magazines, everything I can reasonably say to myself that I don't need, use regularly, or intend to use in the foreseeable future, and buy again if I want to someday. I'll only have one chance to help fund Shenmue 3. I've been waiting for this chance for half my life and had all but completely given up on it.

I will also go into some debt, which is okay because I don't have any debt and have very good credit. I can take one of those zero-interest-for-a-year offers that I keep getting to an extent where I can pay it back in less than six months.

I'll go on a diet and stop eating so much take out and convenience store food (although I'll miss the Tomato Mart). I can save hundreds of dollars a month doing that. It'll be hard, because I do love my Tomato, but I'll do everything I can.

I'm still trying to think of what else I can do…
