lol! Can Ryo go to jail if you do something bad?? I hope this doesn't turn into GTA!
Or maybe you have to bust that guy out of there so that he can help you with stuff!

I don't think so, probably just part of a future story like when Ren & Ryo were prisoner in a building.

I hope the first time that Ryo punches someone he goes to prison. The first punch he lands should be followed by a policeman tackling him and arresting him on the spot for causing bodily harm.

I know the police are wrapped up in the case of finding Iwao's killer despite Ryo asking a hot dog vendor and getting further than they ever did. The point stands that he went through two whole games going around causing trouble and just starting fights all the time and the police never got involved. He kicks a football in a guy's face and beats up a bunch of dudes in a residential area where there will be tons of witnesses watching from their homes and nothing comes of it. He runs through town knocking people over like a selfish asshole and not one repercussion. Ryo get's in a lot of fights so I doubt that before Shenmue I he never caused trouble.

I'm willing to bet that the jail cell is located somewhere in the Chi You Men HQ and it's a holding cell where they keep people they need to interrogate or something.

it might be a boss fight where you have to hide behind the rocks and execute your attacks on the assailant in time with the geyser bursts.

or you are traversing the geysers with a friend in order to get somewhere.

or maybe some kind of martial arts training scenario from a master.
