FIX THE KICKSTARTER!!! Awesome Japan/Suzuki/Shibuya

Hey guys,

Its become apparent that The kickstarter has stalled significantly. This is obviously due to the poor campaigning from Awesome Japan, the disgraceful and disgusting clickbait gaming journalism and partly SONY. I also partly blame Suzuki.

The campaign has 2 weeks left. They need to pull out all of their big guns NOW!!! Hell, it should have been done weeks ago.

Why is there still not a paypal option????
Why is there not a dedicated site for donations????
Why is there no physical PS4 edition?????
Why are the reward tiers ass???
Why is the site Shenmue.link and not Shenmue.com????

Its obvious at this point that they need all the help they can get. If we look at the the twitch stream, the new reward tiers that were offered sold out very quickly and boosted the kickstarter significantly. They need to keep adding more attractive reward tiers to help with funding.

Im surprised they havent offered replica pheonix and dragon mirrors; first four Ryo and Lan di figures. Hell, even dreamcast copies of Shenmue 1 and 2. Keep adding attractive reward tiers that will benefit the campaign. Shenmue fans will buy it, Guaranteed!!!

Time is running out and im getting fed up of Suzuki saying, "Im thinking about it", or "we'll see". Suzuki, you don't have time to think about it. You need to act now.

Awesome Japan need to get their act together and start making the campaign Awesome and not Awful.

Sorry if i came across a bit harsh, but i really want this to succeed and not fail. Im super happy Suzuki is back in the spotlight and i really want him to get the recognition that he deserves.

Why is the site Shenmue.link and not Shenmue.com????

Because Shenmue.com belongs to SEGA. Only one way to take this domain - buy it from SEGA.

Why is there no physical PS4 edition?????

Because they need a lot of paper work to do it. And dont forget about fees for SONY and third-party companies.

This is obviously due to the poor campaigning from Awesome Japan, the disgraceful and disgusting clickbait gaming journalism and partly SONY.

Its really hard to promote campaigin, because a lot of ppl who was intersted already backed. They showed Kickstarter on E3 stage. So almost all gamers knows about SIII, and who wonted already backed.

I see this alot, and I really wonder what expectations people actually have?
continuous growth at 100k per day minimum? a nice smooth graph climb to 11million?

Do people not realise that shenmue is a small fanbase and MANY external influences exist that affect a kickstarter?

Most people that played shenmue are prolly 30 fucking years or older now, they might not even know kickstarter EXISTS let alone know there is shenmue3 going on.

He's right that they need to stop saying "I'm thinking about it". There's a lot of stuff you can stop thinking about and just fucking DO it. Setting up a paypal account isn't something you should be thinking about. They said last week they were "thinking" about that.
Well? Where is it? It takes minutes to sign up. Where's the account? You were thinking about it last week.
There's no excuse. Just DO it. Now!

It's pretty safe to assume people around the age of 30 or a bit older are not technologically ignorant or retarded especially since they came from a generation surrounded by electronics.

Oh, this discussion again. Joy!

And all Kickstarters stall in the middle.

My thoughts exactly. It's like they enjoy turning away millions of $ in funding.

I agree and it isn't just the awesome japan staff at this point.

The finger has to be pointed at the team and sony..

Whoever is holding up the physical tier is the one to blame for it losing a lot of money imo

I have said it a million times, whoever is araid of losing money on the physical. Just put the physical at a nice special edition package and put it at a price that you are comfortable at with "not losing money" just let us buy the damn physical edition already. Let us push that.

I mean holly molly, if this was my KS and I'm seeing people beg me to set up a paypal. I am doing it the best I can...

I think it's fair to say with the right focus and elements... this wouldn't be stalling this badly honestly

Absolutely, I'm not implying that. I'm 30 myself

But no one is paying for advertising on TV, Youtube or Facebook.
So how do you reach out to people that watch TV, funny cat videos and check FB every hour to see where they are in the social status competition.
I just checked out some rough TV prices... yeah lol

People expect another million backers, when people who played 1/2 15 years ago may lead very different lives nowadays, like having a family and no time for gaymen.
I cant imagine thousands of newcomers to the series to be coming in just from the hype either, Shenmue is a niche, a good one, but thats partly what makes it good.

It's not a game for the masses. they just don't 'get it'.

Japanese companies tipically have a slower approach to taking decisions, we have to deal with it.

However it's likely they're considering continuing the fundraising campaign after the Kickstarter given that 1/ Cedric Biscay of Shibuya Production has retweeted such propositions from the fans 2/ Yu has made clear how important reaching some of the remaining stretch goals is to him.
So maybe they are not dealing in 'only two weeks left' term.

I have a question to the people who ask for a Paypal option on the KS: Do you really think it would bring that much more money in? I mean, sure there are a lot of people who don't have credit cards, but I mean, if I didn't have a credit card, I'd surely have found a friend who lets me use his credit card by now. Just use a friend's card and pay them back cash.

I think if somebody really wants to back Shenmue they will find a way. Maybe only in South American countries where you can't send money abroad with a credit card, this thing is more of a problem but for North America and Europe? I don't think so. Everybody has some friends or family members with credit cards.

Maybe not, but it will bring in more than no option.

Also, it wold give the fans a chance to donate monthly, if they really do that or not? that is still up in the air.

Maybe some rich sega dude would donate a few million.... eh... well you know whatever. With no chance though, it will always be 0 . Something is better than nothing at least.

I really hope for the monthly option, too. But I'm not worried about it. I think after the KS, they will start something like that, given the fact that Biscay retweeted some fan requests about it and Yu also talked about it on Reddit.

From what I read in some countries it's very difficult to make a donation via credit card, so asking a friend wouldn't help unless it's a friend from another country.
