I think the idea is its a kind of guestbook that tourists fill in, so those people will have come on different boat trips.

When you getting to 100+ people it might as well be a name in a phone directory.. A lot of money for little to no reward. While I'm not going to reduce my pledge I feel pretty jipped about it and I'm sure others may very well drop out.

It's like the are taking advantage of people's good will (to pay $1000 just for a small photo and name in a book)

I need to somehow justify it to myself though... I get how it could annoy people but surely that's more about how it's been handled? I mean if it was 128 backers originally it'd be just accepted right?

They clearly underestimated the popularity of this reward but I think it's still a positive that they're responding to feedback and requests like this personally.

Either they have an extra wall or the pictures are smaller. Like I said, it's on the brink of taking advantage of people's goodwill. I pushed to $1500 against my better judgement to help the game, but the small amount of thanks I was gonna receive for it just got slashed in half.

So just feels like it devalues the pledge tier. If it increases again I'll probably roll back to the $500. :(

I don't think it devalues it too greatly. I mean you are going to me immortalised in a video game that's going to be played by millions over the ages. Someone will browse every photo in years to come, and laugh at all these people who made the game, and say that's awesome.

That's a privelidge I won't have, and I am paying 10,000! When me and Suzuki-San have shuffled off this planet, who's gonna remember the dinner and chat we had? But your face and name will be in this game forever. That's such a cool thing. Imagine your kids playing Shenmue 3 one day and seeing their dad in it?

I know officially you're missing out right now Peter but I've got a feeling they'll reassess and add this for the 9 epic dinner pledgers- I get doubling will annoy some people but no one will hate on an additional 9 surely?!

Im still keeping the pledge because the extra $1000 is to help the game... But still.. I'm a little salty they don't value such a large pledge as highly now..

Yea I get your point Rig! I'd probably feel the same for a while but I think it's more about them underestimating demand rather than undervaluing the reward and backers.

Yeah as a backer of the $1500 a feel a little uneasy about it. But I guess we need to trust Yu on this one. I don't expect my beautiful face to be a damn billboard, but I still want people to know its me without having to zoom to 50x magnification after image processing. Maybe a mock of the idea they had in mind about how to display the photos would ease our minds.

maybe they added a whole new waiting room, one inbound and one outbound. unreal engine can handle very high res textures, so i don't think you need to worry about being pixelated or anything.
