I just looked at the KS trailer again. Lock/delete this thread if I'm stupid or give me a link if you've already had this discussion somewhere, but are there not several new characters in the trailer?

Shenhua to the right, is that Baihu in the center or are both characters left of Shenhua "new"?


There are a few characters here as well that might be of interest. Below the '*Shenmue"' sign and below the board corresponding to the picture linked above there might be more characters.

BTW, did this advertisment really happen in Japan or is it just photoshop?

i saw those too. there was much excitement at the time with all the announcements i decided i would take a closer look at these later. thanks for the stills.

i think its just photoshop, but i might be wrong.

Now that you mention it, I get more excited knowing that there's still more major and supporting characters that we have yet to see.

PS: The man in the first picture to the right looks like he is a Westerner. Thought he looked like a clergy with those black clothes.

I'm pretty sure they are both Shenhua, just in different outfits, as seen in artwork for the first two games.

The man on the left looks like Sunming Zhao. However, having him next to Xiuying doesn't make sense, seeing as he supposedly died long before the events of Shenmue take place.

I think they're both Shenhua too- they're almost identical to previous artwork release as Miles says.

Yeah that does look a bit like him. That would be a mind-BLOWN moment. Although if it's true I'd have rather not known and been shocked by it.

I don't think they would release that in a trailer though, a massive spoiler.

While it looks like they're together, I think they are just two character models positioned next to each other and not necessarily together.

That being said, I don't agree that it looks like Zhao. Actually, seeing Xuiying and that bigger guy side-by-side reminds me of Izumi Curtis and her husband from Fullmetal Alchemist

Undoubtedly. The guy in the middle is a mystery. Could be Baihu in a totally different get-up, could be the 3rd or 4th Chiyoumen boss, could be anyone, really.

Yeah these characters, with the exception or Ryo, Shenhua and Xiuying, I'd have thought most likely wouldn't be anyone of a high standing story wise, not in a Kickstarter trailer anyway.

But why would you throw some random guy in with a mirror and two Shenhua's, so... who knows? Very exciting!

I really wouldn't overthink the characters used or how/who they've been placed with, guys. They probably just gathered existing concept art very quickly just for the purposes of the trailer. The fact that two artworks of Shenhua have been placed together should reinforce that point.

He looks like the crazy tramp who makes you brake the stones with your hand in S2

I've seen someone here using the left-side Shenhua as profile picture but I have never seen the original artwork. Would be happy if someone can link it.

The left-side man on picture 1 could be someone else than Zhao Sunming as well I feel, but you might be onto something.

Ziming has fully convinced me about Baihu in picture 2.
