Playing the trial before final

Good question I saw on the 500k:

So, the Shenmue 3 trial PC copy.

As much as I'd love to test the game, and have input into any improvements, I'm really scared about diluting that initial experience of playing the finished article. I want my first experience of the game to be awe-inspiring and breath-taking...not full of bugs, and only 10-minutes long etc...

Anyone else have that fear?

What do we think about this? It's difficult but I think i'm on the side of playing the 'beta'.

Very difficult question. I will probably play it, but perhaps after finishing the final version.

What do we think about this? It's difficult but I think i'm on the side of playing the 'beta'.

Even though the reward tier I chose includes the trial version, I will almost definitely wait to play the finished article for the reasons mentioned above. It's going to be tough holding out, but for me personally, I'd rather it was completely fresh when I first play it.

I think if you hold out with the trial version, the hardest part will be not visiting these forums aswell

Absolutely fuck yes. Demos don't really take anything away from the final product imo and actually enhance hype. Can't wait.

Hopefully best case we get a "What's Shenmue 3" product that doesn't spoil anything. I guess it's gonna be difficult to avoid screens though

I hope they do it in the form of What's Shenmue where you get a silly unrealistic quest to do with no relevance to the actual game such as re-claiming Yu's unused Shenmue III assets from the evil "SOOGA".

I think it'll just be a small segment of Bailu village to get feedback on things like controls, graphics, etc. I don't think it'll spoil much, will probably be like replaying end of Shenmue II in UE4. I'm most hyped about Choubu and especially Baisha, doubt they'll be in the trial.

As hard as it's going to be, I'll be holding out for the final version. It's going to be hard avoiding screens, but I hope people use those spoiler tags when discussing anything from the trial.

For any other game, I would say no. In this exclusive case though, I have to play it lol.

Especially if they give us the opportunity to offer feedback ala a sort of limited beta.

Yeah, after all these years the last thing I want is a taste, I want the full course. Also, I don't want the first moments spoiled in any way. I've waited forever to see them, I want to see them proper. The only thing I could see working would be a What's Shenmue approach, something irrelevant, yet gives us a taste of the engine, etc.
